It was for us atheists as it were and I think my contribution was a positive one. I can't help it if there are those who would like to mock or use passive aggression to express 'their' negativity. Christmas is a fun time whether alone or not and I'd like to keep it that way.

Is this really necessary? In the states, and I'm sure in a number of other places as well, Christmas has become more of a national holiday than a religious one (and even so, you're mocking the wrong religion). My sister is an atheist, and I'm seeing her tomorrow at Christmas brunch. I'm a Taoist, and I'm going to be there, too.

So please, don't try and break apart one of the great holidays because you want to feel special.

As usual religious folks take it wrong. The subject was a light hearted show of participation. It can(and is) a happy time for unbelievers too. And the body of the text illuminated (If I may) that we dont look (or really act) different from anyone else.

So Merry Taomas, MrLoony, with no malice, really.

If you don't act different from anyone else, then why do you feel it necessary to wish someone "Merry Atheistmas"? That just causes division, and you should realize that.

I celebrate Christmas, I thought I made that clear, because I don't feel the need to unnecessarily set myself apart from others.

No its not, it is the wondrous day when god gave his only son to all of humanity so that we might be saved, we should all be thankful for this most miraculous event. I personally am going to church for most of the day to spend it in quite contemplation and give thanks to the lord.

I suspect you'll slouch in the back wearing a leather jacket festooned with spikes and safety pins. And whats with the orange spiky hair? Save a section of pew for me.

No not at all I was there in my best sunday outfit.

Solstice day was December 21st - you're a few days late.

Actually, it's most likely that Jesus wasn't born anywhere NEAR December 25th.

I was going to point that out, too (doesn't everyone know that by now?), but I think he was joking.

Of course. DentArthurDent is an Orthodox Lenninist and such an ultra-militant atheist that he makes Jacques Hébert look euphemistic!

How is that relevant?

This did cross my mind but I let it go, it is like saying the queens birthday is not in June, this is irrelevant as the day chosen to celebrate IS in June.

Damn you have seen through my cunning disguise

I do prefer Orthodox Trotskyist but Leninist is no insult. Also I would never behave in a manner even vaguely resembling the Cult of Reason.
