I love Badcocks. Him and Jung,and Freud, I'd do 'em all at once.

Although the each have a few points worth considering they each have their failings.

I also have to add something here; I had the chance to see Badcock's theory on autism/psychosis as a continuum between hypo and hypermentalism - I really have my doubts on that one. I know too many hypermentalistic sorts who get dx'd, I'd actually have to say that I err to that side myself, though I can see how I find a strange push pull between AS and NT's - NT's match my inner tenor and emotionally elaborate parts more where aspies match my life experience and rather physically neurological areas of functioning.

My guess - hypomentalism could fit some but I believe many if not most LFA's are on a completely different dynamic, as well a spectrum that comes up from them - coincides with AS and looks similar but is really more like ultra-HFA (if you see neongrl around her ask her on this theory - we agree strongly on it). Pretty much you have people who are the full out absent minded professors - who tend to look more normal, not have too much in the way of neurological difficulties, they're just 110% percent obtuse to social cues - that's Aspergers. Then you have people who, by all in tents and purposes would be NT otherwise, but for the fact that they have almost CP-like traits that jam their social abilities (not anxiety, just bad inward to outward wiring that jams facial communication and can even have abberant jibberish coming out of their mouths, much to their horror, that had no correlation to their thoughts). People in that later situation are more just prisoners to funked-out nervous systems; many times also they're bit battles are with hypersensitivities, things like synesthesia or not being able to deal with overly bright lights or loud sounds. The two I think can overlap (some absent minded professors have some traits of the others while some caged-NT's have some absent minded professor traits). Overall though I think that's part of the di-polarity of the autistic spectrum as well as explaining some of the eclecticness that we even see on this forum.

I used to be much more autistic/hypomentalist, and now I'm more schizophrenic/hypermentalist. These are all just labels of course, but I do find it interesting how autistics take things literally. When I experienced a spiritual awakening, I guess I took that too literally as well.
