I think the point the OP was trying to make is that it takes as much faith to believe that God does not exist as it does to believe that he does. If an atheist simply does not believe in God than the term agnostic would do, it is for those who believe there is no God that we need a different word.
It might be well is some of the strident atheists who are less than certain that God does not exist would express that more often.

Well, NobelCynic, during the campaign I was literally spouting out anything that would work. This isn't to say that I am much much more an atheist than agnostic, but I am sure that you probably would notice that my skepticism and "nihilism" don't fit in too well with a positive stance on something like "atheism", so I would consider myself an atheist agnostic. Now, there are some gods I know don't exist, and there are some occasions that I take an argument too far, and I am certainly going to say "God really likely doesn't exist, as the possibility is ridiculous" but in any literal sense I haven't disproven the existence of all possible things one could label "God".

Who runs their own campaigns by being actually truthful? And well, I thought AG was auto-theist, rather than a-theist.
