Well maybe years from the other races will breed with white people and we'll have a planet populated entirely by mixed brown-skinned babies living in harmony, if the world doesn't end by a giant meteor hitting us, blowing each other up with atomic weapons, or the sun growing to giagantic size and swallowing our planet that is.

Or maybe we'll get more psychos like Kamau Kambon who will suceed in convincing the world that every white man "Is a plantation owner, and the world is a plantation and they need to be exterminated off the face of the planet to stop their evil conspiracy of controlling the world". Then we'll fall victims to mass genocide, which you might be hoping for I guess. ^_^

Let me try to put what was on my mind more eloquently. I think what I was trying to say was I like being "outside of society". I think it helps me have a more clear view of the world. If I was a normal middle class white guy who did really well at college, got a good job and a normal family and settled down into a wealthy life now, I might not have the view of the world I do. I might be as oblivious and small minded as some of them are, ie caring about nothing in the world but but expensive furniture and ornaments from posh shops and what my status was. I like the thought of being forced into the position of an outsider to the system I guess.

Other aspies here seem to want to suceed in the world and see the likes of Bill Gates etc as inspirations. I would rather not suceed in this world anyway as I don't like the way the world works, I would rather be down to earth and unaffluent and try to contribute to a better world.

That's perfectly understandable. I myself like having my quirks because it makes me different too. Everyone in the world has something about them that makes them different, and it's kind of sad when people try to hide or repress them. It's like the saying "Variety is the Spice of Life".

But white people are special in their own way too, just like every other race. You're right in saying that years from now their population will probably decrease due to them being at the bottom of the gene pool when it comes to inter-racial breeding. But I kind of hate how white people have become the scapegoats for all the problems in the world. They have done some pretty horrible things to non-white races and each other, but other races have done things like that to. Every race has its good and evil moments in history, and placing a negative stereotype on a particular race based on the actions of some is what leads to horrible things like genocide. Genocide is never a good thing.

I don't like it when if any critisism is said of any poorer country people say "well what about the US" as if the fact that the US does wrong absolves all other countries of the ability to do wrong and puts them above critisism. I know that in lots of cases US imperialism has caused a lot of the problems of the world, but people are people and capable of wrong whereever they are. I prefer people who have a balanced view of seeing the big problem of US imperialism but willing to mention flaws of others, not seeing things in black and white with heroes against a villian. I think most intelligent people can do that though.

I can see how this can make people feel better about themselves, ie I am a white male so I am in the group that will never be pushed down by the establishment.

This is satire, right? I mean, I know this board has more than its fair share of Marxism-indoctrinated liberals, but you don't need to mock them so.

Some folks here might want to look up "intersectionality" and"kyriarchy."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersectionality

Quote:
Intersectionality is an important paradigm for sociological and cultural studies, but there have been many challenges in utilizing it to its fullest capacity. Difficulties arise due to the many complexities involved in making "multidimensional conceptualizations"[2] that explain the way in which socially constructed categories of differentiation interact to create a social hierarchy. For example, intersectionality holds that knowing a woman lives in a sexist society is insufficient information to describe her experience; instead, it is also necessary to know her race, sexual orientation, class, etc., as well as her society's attitude toward each of these memberships. The theory of intersectionality also suggests that discrete forms and expressions of oppression actually shape, and are shaped by, one another. Thus, in order to fully understand the racialization of oppressed groups, one must investigate the ways in which racializing structures, social processes, and social representations (or ideas purporting to represent groups and group members in society) are shaped by gender, class, sexuality, etc. While the theory began as an exploration of the oppression of women within society, today sociologists strive to apply it to all people and to many different intersections of group membership.

http://unapologeticallyfat.blogspot.com ... y-101.html

Quote:
For instance: If I were to say that men have social power over women, and white people have social power over black people, that's a very simplistic way of stating something that's easy to poke holes in. Kyriarchy says that a person's privilege and social power is more complicated than that. Barack Obama is a black man who has more social power than I do as a white woman. That does not negate or dismiss the fact that I have more social power than some black men in other circumstances and social structures, or that there are certain situations and social structures where I have significantly less. Et Cetera for gender, race, ability, weight, height, age, etc. They all intersect and interact in complex ways.

It is much easier to simply say that JD has more privilege than I do because he's a man. It is more accurate to say that in certain circumstances, JD's male privilege will dominate and show a clear advantage, while in others it will not help him at all.

Here's the scenario to illustrate the Kyriarchy concept:

We go out to a restaurant. JD is male, so the waitstaff may automatically assume he's paying for the meal. The food is terrible. JD's male privilege means that if he complains to the management, he's more likely to be taken seriously and get compensation. Then we both get food poisoning. my socioeconomic privilege now trumps his male privilege. I have excellent insurance and am able to expect good care and be seen the same day. JD has terrible insurance, and his only real option is emergency room or to call all around town trying to find an urgent care facility that takes his insurance. Once we're in to see our respective doctors, his (relative) thin privilege gives him an advantage because the doctor is more likely to take him seriously and treat his illness instead of blaming it on his weight and telling him he wouldn't be nauseous if he didn't stuff his face. BUT, JD is in therapy, therefore in the mental health system. In this case, my current mental health privilege may mean I will get better care because my doctor won't ask me condescendingly if I've been feeling a lot of stress lately and conclude that my illness is psychosomatic.

See the layers of privilege intersecting like that? By the way, every single one of those examples has happened to us.

The polarity conscious reactive thinking around privilege, race, gender and fat ignores the fact that our privilege is more or less apparent depending on who we're with and the social construct we're working within at the moment. Privilege doesn't change, but it's effect DOES.

If you need another example, I suggest you read this. Here we have a successful white man, whom we would think would top the privilege hierarchy in almost any situation. BUT you put him in a situation where the perception of him is that he's homeless and the talent that made him famous is not enough to get people to even make eye contact. He is suddenly labeled as "sick" and "dangerous" because the homeless are so stigmatized that his gender and race privilege does him no good whatsoever (except maybe to make him seem even more of a threat).

The point is not whether he has lost privilege. The point is DEFINITELY not to minimize those who are the victims of the various power structures or their experiences. The point is that if we want to discuss "ism"s, we need to make sure that we're taking into account the experiences of everyone who has experienced discrimination based on something not in their control. We want to make sure that in the quest for Fat Acceptance or feminism we don't step on the heads of others on the way up, we don't try to argue whether "my lack of privilege is worse than yours", or other similar red herrings, and we work to elevate, not drag others down kicking and screaming. That's no way to make allies. And face it, no social movement succeeds without allies.

It's strange that you went into such detail when refferring to caucasians while leaving the other mentioned races virtually blank. Which means you respect arrogant, rich, Polish (Polish people aren't white?), Chinese, Indian and Middle Eastern chavs. Or am I misinterpretting?

Nope. Not a liberal and not by any means a fan of victimhood culture or strength through unity of that sort. I'm quite convinced that it makes the world a far worse place.

oh well. :silent:

If you are talking about the U.S. consider: The U.S. population is about 3 x 10^8 and the folks on the Aspie-Autie spectrum is about one percent of the population so 3 x 10^8 x 10^-2 is
3x10^6 or about 3 million. There are fewer people on the spectrum than there are American Jews which number about 5.5 million. Ignore the overlap in the populations as it is insignifican.l
