As Franz Boas once said when he was adressing/ referring to those trying to discredit his research : " I can't stop people from being crazy." :p

The Supreme Court is going to revisit the Snyder case again next week.

If any group would truly represent a legal standard where you could start to define "fighting words" in a legal sense: those scumbags protesting solders' funerals with hate speech would be an easy starting point.

What these crazies did was extremely provocative and under the "fighting words" doctrine they deserve all the violence they invite upon themselves. Free speech is primarily for petitioning the government for redress of grievance. See the wording of the First Amendment.

The WBC gives true Christians everywhere a bad name. People are always going to judge Christians by their worst examples because they get the most attention.

WBC is clearly a cult. The strongest evidence proving this is the video where two of his disowned kids speak out.

I hope they don't allow women to be pastors, because they could be even more psychotic if Shirley were to take over.

You said it! The WBC is a hate group in disguise.

Not much of a disguise.

I disagree.

People are always going to judge Christians by their worst examples because those people - and i dont mean the WBC in particular - are more consistent in their beliefs and better at getting their message out. You peaceable ones are outliers and far too muddled, variegated and erratic philosophically to present a stronger definition than the fundies.

You have neither a mechanism to eject them from your ranks, nor a way to isolate yourselves socially from their bigotry.

In other words they need a pacifist cult(or church if you prefer) to counteract the hatred of WBC?

It would be my preference that religion give up the holy ghost, so to speak. The energy wasted on religious pursuit will be better directed elsewhere.

Whoa now... we're not "outliers." We're the silent majority within Christianity.

Silence connotes consent - sometimes.
