 just what do you have against strippers and prostitutes, anyway?

I personally think that line of work is immoral. I feel bad for people being put in that position, but it is still immoral.

what is the matter with you? i said nor implied no such thing. i only said that it was a shame that they could not have seen the benefit of helping other human beings with their god-given largesse. you should have been able to understand this, but i guess i should not expect so much from you. you see larceny in me because there is larceny in you. more of your pot calling my kettle black.

First this gave a lot of skilled people jobs cause those aren't the kind of things that can be churned out by machines, it takes skilled craftmen, not little children in some 3rd world country being used as slave labor. If a hotel wants to spend money on something like this, more power to them. They could have spent the money on strippers and prostitutes...

What is this strange prejudice against skilled strippers and prostitutes? Don't they have children to be raised and educated? Don't they keep politicians and rich businessmen happy and productive? Aren't they consumers that keep the economy going? They have to live too.

And you consider the spending of millions on a showy bauble perfectly moral when the money could be put to use even in the Arab world relieving misery and poverty and disease?

I'd take prostitution over the pathological use of homophobia, bigotry, "poor people are stupid and lazy" mantra, and wilful ignorance that form the core of Modern American Conservatism anyday.

And a lot of people who are rich are lazy. And it seems there are even a few lazy thinkers in this area.

*Shrugs

Most of them worked hard to get to be rich so I would doubt they are lazy.

@ auntblabby

I'm from a middle class family that is struggling right now, and I think this raise taxes on rich people and small businesses is going to torpedo the economy. I don't drink Kool-Aid.

Obviously you don't keep up with statistics. Most of them inherited their money and paid off politicians to cut their taxes to get more.

your naive belief that all success in life requires is just jerking oneself up by one's own bootstraps, qualifies as guzzling horatio alger's koolaid. you may fancy yourself as ragged dick, when in reality your genetic heritage and brains are what is going to make you go places. you ignore the fact that not all people have such gifts of wherwithal. try even THINKING about college with an addled brain, and see how far you get.

We get it, you have no self esteem and think we're all bullies and meanies that want to grind your bones for bread if we vote Republican or oppose big government, so you can knock off the passive aggressive thing already. I'm a libertarian and I can't imagine you're half as useless as you make yourself out to be, in fact I doubt you're so helpless that all that you can look forward to is a life of bare subsistence on the public dole.

Since the last Republican presidency oversaw the huge growth of big government trying to control all sorts of the aspects of civilian life and doing a very intrusive job of it I wonder where you get your ideas.

Notice I said "vote Republican or oppose big government", I made it clear they aren't the same thing and don't need you to point out that the Republicans haven't exactly been the party of small government recently.

would you know "passive-aggressive" if it turned around and bit you on the tuckas? i doubt it. you know zip about me- you believe i am on "the dole" - if i WERE on the dole you wouldn't have seen me here. as for bullies and meanies, i know them when i see them.

Many Con-Artists unconciously believe the stupid part, but, okay, thanks for establishing your disbelief in institutional factors that affect income. It's enlivening to see that I can put in the the camp of people who absurdly believe that Anglo-American social inequality is due solely to the lazy sinking to the bottom while the rich prodigiously put in 700 million dollars worth of work. If only that lazy, single-mother would work harder than $7.75 worth of work an hour scrubbing toilets.

I live in Seattle, passive aggression is our #1 local pastime (seriously, if you put "passive aggressive" into Google it will suggest "Seattle" as the next word). Just the same, here's what Wikipedia had to say about it:

Wikipedia wrote:
Passive–aggressive behavior, a personality trait, is passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to following through with expectations in interpersonal or occupational situations. It is a personality trait marked by a pervasive pattern of negative attitudes and passive, usually disavowed resistance in interpersonal or occupational situations.

It can manifest itself as learned helplessness, procrastination, stubbornness, resentment, sullenness, or deliberate/repeated failure to accomplish requested tasks for which one is (often explicitly) responsible.

...

Passive-aggressive personality disorder was listed as an Axis II personality disorder in the DSM-III-R, but was moved in the DSM-IV to Appendix B ("Criteria Sets and Axes Provided for Further Study") because of controversy and the need for further research on how to also categorize the behaviors in a future edition. As an alternative, the diagnosis Personality disorder not otherwise specified may be used instead.

The DSM-IV Appendix B definition is as follows:[2]

A) A pervasive pattern of negativistic attitudes and passive resistance to demands for adequate performance, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicted by four (or more) of the following:

1. passively resists fulfilling routine social and occupational tasks
2. complains of being misunderstood and unappreciated by others
3. is sullen and argumentative.
4. unreasonably criticizes and scorns authority
5. expresses envy and resentment toward those apparently more fortunate
6. voices exaggerated and persistent complaints of personal misfortune
7. alternates between hostile defiance and contrition

B) Does not occur exclusively during major depressive episodes and is not better accounted for by dysthymic disorder.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive%E2 ... e_behavior

I put the particularly cogent parts in bold, any perusal of your posts in this sections would turn up myriad examples of strongly passive aggressive behavior.

Re-read my post, I didn't say I thought you were on the dole, I said I thought you had more potential than just being on the dole, which seems to be all that YOU think you're good for given your constant self denigration.

Seeing how indignant you got when you thought I was making an unfair assumption about you, perhaps you ought to refrain from making similar assumptions about your fellow posters, after all you don't really know them and can't accurately speak for their motivations for holding certain beliefs. For someone who constantly belittles their own intellect and blames their "inferior" genetics and reasoning for their ills, you seem awfully confident in your judgment of others based on the minimal information present here, perhaps you ought to think about the contradiction there.
