OP: Yes, absolutely. We're in a universe that provides all kinds of raw data but which provides no purpose and where consciousness seems like a complete and utter waste. In that sense, science won't give most people what they need. As has been observed about the human spirit - reason only goes so far, its not the cure of all ails or all needs. In that sense I think belief in God is perfectly fine - whether the evidence points that way for a particular person, whether people would like to effectively posit that there are universal human rights that cannot be alienated to a place where man is not allowed to touch them, or even for those who are completely agnostic about the hereafter and who are more concerned about having hope here and now regardless of what the end result may be - if we end up maggot food and nothing more, a life of perceived meaning is so much better than a life of naval gazing and believing that one has no purpose, no reason for being, and that one might as well eat rohypnols and smack themselves in the face all day long. Reality is messy and, atheist or theist, anyone's guess is as good as the next person's.

Pirates are not bad people they are very good all that propaganda about pirates being bad are spread by christians in truth pirates were good people that loved to sing and drink grog they even gave candy to kids thus creating halloween

One does not have to love the Lord even. Being just to one's neighbor would go a long, long way to solving many of our problems.

Yes. It's okay to believe whatever you want to believe.

People can believe in what they want, but what they believe is a reflection on them as a person.

Just framing the question in that way begs it to some degree. Is it alright to believe in one or more gods might be fairer. But that still wouldnt cover all of the supernatural options.

There are polytheists and goddess worshipers in the world.

I think most athiest can imagine believing in God. Just as many theists can imagine not believing in God.

So belief in an abstract Judeo/Christian type God maybe wrong but it would be considered a respectable opinon to most nonbelievers.

Belief in God is one thing. Biblical literealism is something else.

Most of the secular cannot even imagine how a sane person could believe that every story in the Bible could be litereally true ( and that the planet is only 6000 years old).

So belief in God is respectable, but Biblical literealism is not respectable- indeed not even considered sane.

Tell that to the Muslims concerning the Q'ran.
