nothing works in too large quantities, not even oxygen(at the right pressure anyway and boy is that intoxicating )
a lot of the problems it causes in the danish society would be mitigated by legalizing it in a controlled way, might even bring in some much needed tax.
as for the health hazards of weed, definately less than caffeine from a physiological stand point, over doses of caffeine produces arythmia, hyper ventilation, mild halucinations, temporary delusions from lack of sleep and heart attacks and thats in doses that is more than possible if drinking some of the new concentrated shots or taking caffeine pills, you still have to be pretty stupid to get there, the kids mentioned above could have avoided this issue if they had some proper unbiased education about the subject, it should still be discouraged as it does have severe psychological impact if overdone.

Paranoia (feeling that people are "out to get you")
Altered time perception

Yeah but cigarettes give you lung cancer and kill you. I'd rather be paranoid, have a bad memory, and not be able to concentrate (all things which describe me normally anyway) than be dead, ya know?

I'd rather be dead then be a drug abusing loser. There are things worse than death, chiefy.

You'd rather be dead than anxious and sleepy? You have some strange priorities, buckaroo (if you can put random stupid names at the end of your posts, I can too )

I think blue jackets fan needs to understand the difference between abusers and casual users. There are casual users of alcohol &/or marijuana, and then there are 'drug abusing losers' of both. Then there are hard drug users, an entire category of its own for f*****g up

Fake marijuana? Why?
Because the real one has been made harder to get by laws that seem almost designed to give criminals the monopoly on a highly demanded product AND to make the product artificially scarce to increase the criminals' profit.

Drugs are bad, and I hate alcohol for , basically everything (not to mention it is as bad as marijuana at best). Same goes for tobacco.

But to make those things illegal is not a solution to the problem, it just makes the problem worse and anyone with understanding on history and what happened during the prohibition years should know about that.

I agree, but I'd draw the line at coke. There are people who casually sniff coke but I still wouldn't approve of it.

@ Blue_Jackets_Fan: Actually the reason weed was made illegal was to eliminate competition with the timber industry that supplied paper for newspapers. Hemp is tougher, cheaper, and quicker to produce. Racism is another reason since Harry J. Anslinger (one of the people who was lobbying to make it illegal) was not only spreading ridiculous myths about the effects (It'll turn you into an axe murderer!!!1111), but also saying a bunch of racist s**t (It'll make those darkies steal our women and look at white men twice without feeling inferior! Those damn n****rs should stay in their place!). William Hearst, who was also one of the people who were involved in lobbying, owned a huge chain of newspapers and it was a threat to his profits. He also hated Mexicans.

The DuPont chemical company patented nylon and also wanted to eliminate hemp. On top of that, pharmaceutical companies also wanted to eliminate competition. So I think you should do some research on why weed is illegal and take a good look at your stance. Looking at history and the people who campaigned to make weed illegal, it was definitely not make illegal to protect society (well it's partly true since they wanted to protect society from Blacks and Mexicans) or w/e BS you've heard.

Kind of funny that they wanted to 'protect us' from blacks and Mexicans... in a bad way :P
There were people smoking cannabis in the 19th century CE... and the 19th century BCE! Does anybody ever think of this? Or is the assumption that it was 'invented' in the early 20th?
I believe it was Queen Victoria who claimed it was a great reliever for migraines. I am in total agreement with you, your majesty! :P

I once saw a guy get hauled away in an ambulance after hyperventilating to get whatever kind of "high" he thought he got from doing that.

But overall, life is fatal ... and yet I might have been a bit more careful about bringing trouble upon myself if I had known I was going to live this long.

wow i just realised how i came across, we only learned about it in diving class, i would have a hard time imagining how someone would do it recreationally.
as it needs a certain pressure to be toxic, to my knowledge anyway.

i was at a boarding school where the "cool" kids would choke eachother untill they passed out,
when i wanted to have fun DnD and movies worked just fine.
its scary what people will do to themselves without thinking of the consequences.
**edit**
now that i think about it, it was happening across multiple schools as well.
went on the news and everything.

I remember hearing in a Physiology lecture than too high a percentage of oxygen is analogous to throwing too much fuel on the mitochondria's fire. Think it is pretty toxic to neurons in particular. I know the pressure also increases the amount absorbed.

When it comes to the drugs thing, I'm more lenient. It's simply too difficult to socialise without ethanol.

Near death experiences are attributed to the lack of oxygen causing neurons to burn. People that go through that stuff really change their minds about everything. It seems it is a way to get high that has permanent side effects but the people that go through them often describe feeling peace and light and stuff. It is not surprising for me to just as I read this to find out that some people get high by choking themselves. Let us make hands illegal, I say.

@Vexcalibur: Sex also has a profound effect. We'll have to ban it, also.

Kinda sad to think about... When I was in grad school, there was a certain freshman girl I enjoyed "smoking" on a regular basis.

Another BS story to get the stuff to be made illegal.

Those kids would be feeling like s**t no matter what garbage they had over-indulged in. Another reason to legalize the real stuff and sell it 18+.
