Jews and Arabs have lived together for thousands of years. In fact there are arab jews.

I would argue that if u rounded up 6 random palistinians and 6 random israiles and put them all in a room there could be a viable peace in hours. Unfourtuntly both sides are blocked by their leaders.

I agree 100%.

Zionism is a new nationalism based on a myth, like manifest destiny. It seems that the military industrial complex benefits from Israel's wars as well as fortune 500 companies like Intel. Capitalism and BS "national security" is behind the hijacking of Judaism.

i say would that fundamentally that is about right. The idea that drives ethnic nationalism (racism, or whatever other names we give it) is power. The idea that the lowest of us is still better than the best of them. It is an incredibly effective way to control others by creating a unifying sense of we and then giving it an ideology.

hate breeds only hate in return, the modern arab/jewish conflict is born out of seeds planted following the 1st world war, the division of the ottoman empire into sections that by design could never truly be "nation states", combined with a collective sense of indignity that has been perpetuated through autocratic rule makes the "outsider" (Israel) an easy target for for a peoples who see their collective dignity having been taken by another outsider. Leaders take advantage of this and redirect their peoples legitimate frustration with their own lives at Israel. Unfortunately all to often the IG (Israeli govt) provides the arguments by virtue of their responses.

Imagine, a world were rather than enemies these cultures were interdependent. Israel by virtue of its large immigrant population and its location would be an ideal trade gateway between the arab world and the west, and that would do more to quell anti jewish sentiment in the arab world than any act of war ever could.

Why don't we try putting six random Palestinians from Gaza and 6 random Palestinians from the West Bank together and see if there can be a viable peace within the Palestinian community, first.

There appears to be some hopeful progress today.

I actually think that may be a bad thing, we could be seeing a radicalization of Fatah.

I think precisely the opposite. One need only follow the money. Who's got the money? Who's got international support? Whose population has access to Israel and Jordan? Where are the jobs and where's the prosperity? It's the Fatah territories on the West Bank.

What possible motivation do Palestinians on the West Bank have to subscribe to Hamas' Islamism? Just when life is starting to look up, you don't throw away your progress.

I love it when gentiles define what we Jews are or are not. For the record, for 1900 years Jews were treated as a separate nation, never mind race, in Europe and the Middle East. And only NOW we aren't considered to be a separate nation? Do me a favor and stick to your own kind.

but it is true we traded something when we became a state.
an outsiders clarity of thought.
our minds became as clouded and stupid and bloodthirsty as any of the nations.
when we became a nation we in a way stopped being jewish
it is linguistically embeded.

No need. They have done that themselves. It is a rather large camp, but a small nation industriously going through the last stages of shoving anyone not accepted as Jewish out of the confines. It seems the Zionists (which is not identical with all Jews) are so enamored of ghettos they have fled to a large one of their own construction. Doubtless it is a luxurious ghetto but its security seems permanently in doubt.

Repeating a lie does not make it true, Sand.

Israel created the Law of Return which has enable 300,000 people who are not Jews under Jewish Law to settle in Israel. (The Law of Return recognizes spouses of Jews and children of Jewish fathers). Is this a case of "shoving anyone not accepted as Jewish out of the confines?"

Currently there are 14 Arab members of the Knesset (out of 120). Are these legislators being "shoved out of the confines?" The Minister of Science, Culture and Sport [Emphasis mine] in the previous government was an Arab. An Arab (Majalli Wahabi) has served as Acting President.

Now, I will grant you that the 20% of the Israeli population that is Arab is underrepresented--but that is a far cry from the supposition that gentiles are personae non grata within the borders of Israel.

I think it's a good thing too, Hamas is sensing that the baath regime in Syria won't stand too long, so Hamas is seeking an alternative support already.
