The court of public opinion vs. the court of law.
By the info just checked, the daughter was just 2 years old. By what has been said in some of the abortion toktok here, that does not reallyh qualify her to be a person - she is still in the category of worthless burden to her mother.
In which case surely it would be the mother's right to do whatever she saw fit about the inconvenience.
Surely the REAL crime here is that she did not properly dispose of organic waste.
You have no proof of foul play. Why do you assume it as a fact?

I assume until given counter evidence that the report - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Anth ... nd_charges - that the child died and that the remains were found in or near the woods is substantially correct.
i draw no conclusions - NOT having heard the evidence - as to how the child died.
If the mother caused the death, which I do not allege, I assume it would be seen as trivial by those who class a two-year-old as a dependent and potentially bothersome non-person without humanity or human rights.
But you are right - I should not have worded the post so as to be open to the interpretation that I know the MOTHER disposed of the body. I know no such thing.
So let me amend:
"Surely the REAL crime here is that a person or persons unknown did not properly dispose of organic waste."
I just hope that this Obviously Suspicious situation where a mother did not bother to report her 2-year-old missing for, what, a month? won't just result in another ill-conceived "won't somebody please think of the children" law.
Sex offender registries are stupid. If they are a genuine danger to society they should stay in an institution. If they aren't, they should go free like any other ex-con.
I see that the "caylee's law" people want to make all child abuse and neglect a felony.
I think they are perhaps making dangerous assumptions about what constitutes misdemeanor abuse or neglect - and perhaps maybe only those definitions should be examined.
Florida already has no such thing as misdemeanor abuse or neglect.
[quote="you_are_what_you_is"]I was very happy that she was acquitted. Not because I don't think she killed her daughter - I don't know and I couldn't care less - but because I find it extremely amusing whenever revenge-fetishist torch-and-pitchfork mobs don't get what they want.
Especially when said mobs don't seem to realize (or will not admit....even to themselves) their own complicity in atrocities far worse than
Casey Anthony's.
I could start with anti-abortion killings and MAYBE end with Vietnam before I arrive at the *proverbial* Z. ![]()

What does that mean?
As in....."John covered the history of American foreign policy from A-Z during his presentation".

I think it's possible that the philosophy out there is if someone's already born, it doesn't count as abortion.
Perhaps those concerned may try to explain themselves with:
"How would you feel if your parents killed you, and everyone just turned the other way and said 'Oh, Philologos is just offspring. Those parents had every right to kill Philologos!! !'"
Has there ever been a time where you watched on the news about someone getting attacked and everyone just stood around doing nothing and you got angry thinking how could those bystanders be so cold? Think about an experience when you cared about justice and fairness. It may be possible that's how many of the Americans who are upset are feeling.
