The EU has, over the past 20 years, been arrogating itself powers from Member States that politicians in those Member States gave to the EU without any reference to the national electorates of those countries. So it's more like a club becoming increasingly arrogant and big for its boots, legislating and overruling countries (and their own national democracies) where it has no business doing so.

Switzerland isn't in the EU. Turkey isn't in the EU. Croatia isn't in the EU. Norway isn't in the EU. Iceland isn't in the EU.

The EU is not Europe and Europe is not the EU.

It's sad that even a lot of people in the UK cannot tell the difference between being anti-EU and anti-European. The EU has deliberately fused the two concepts together in people's minds.

That's the work of progressives for you, they want a one world government.

And it's funny that those who are pro-EU (through supporting the main parties that are in the EU) are often less well-travelled and more ignorant about Europe than those who are anti-EU.

As a migrant within the EU, I think the EU is the best thing since sliced bread. Life for us would have been immensely harder if it weren't for EU regulations.

You're British/Irish in Sweden, right? I doubt the Swedish government would have any issue with people like you coming in - but that would be something for the Swedish government to decide, elected democratically by the Swedish people. The current system is madness.

Switzerland and Norway seem to be doing alot better finachially than any other country in the EU. to me that says:
"Individual states know better."

EU equals to: "Let's get bankrupt togehter and be happy ever after." I abhor the idea.

the EU as it stands today is a mixed bag at best,
the fundemental idea was to promote trade, not influence the social structure.

i think it could be of great benefit in certain areas still, though acountability would be nice.

The US has a 10th amendment. Somehow I doubt the founding EU officials had such a constitutional protection in mind when they created their system.

It's been a nightmare. The only thing that has stopped it all going to pot was the protection of EU law. Here, you have to register your right to reside after 3 months. Something states are allowed to request but many, Britain included, don't as it's purely an exercise in red tape. Sweden loves red tape however, it also fails to understand that other countries have different processes. Short story, they were adamant they were going to send my daughter back to the UK and bar her from reentering. I had to get people from the EU commission involved, who went mad as they had no right to do what they were doing. If I hadn't of been an EU citizen, they would have gotten away with it.

They attempted to involve my violent ex husband in medical decisions about my daughter. Despite him having no contact for 14 years and there being a UK court injunction to keep him away. Again, the EU Commission had to step in and make them comply with EU law regarding decisions of other jurisdications.

I could so easily go on and on about how much help they've been. Heck, I even bought all my new bathroom materials in the UK and drove them over to Sweden at 10% of the cost in Sweden. Easy peasy thanks to no import taxes and standardised EU fittings.

Admittedly, before moving I didn't think much of them, because I had no direct dealings. But now I loves them.

The European Union (so called) is really a kind of confederation. Since sovereignty is not centralized the European Union is in approximately the same state as the United States was under the Articles of Confederation. True political and economic unity cannot happen until the sovereignty of the many nations of the Union is subordinated to a central State authority.

Being anti-European means you are a xenophobe.

Being anti-EU means you have an irrational fear of imaginary lines getting deleted and that you are a nationalistic xenophobe lock in 20-th century thought who does all he can to rationalize this behavior into something that looks less dumb including videos made by people that are as afraid of change and losing the imaginary lines as you are.
