So, are you looking for evidence against something because you don't like the claim? That will object make yourself victim of confirmation bias. Things don't work that way...

Tax brackets don't work that way. Any business owner who doesn't understand that is a moron. And probably a tea party member.

If the scary black man imposes a high tax on people who earn more than $250k/yr, and you earn $255k/yr, that high tax applies to $5k of that $255k.

Considering Herman Cain won the Florida Republican Straw Poll, your claims about Republicans and Tea Party people being racist have been disproven. Keep it up and maybe we should start calling you "Race-Card Sam."

Herman is the black man, racist people who have a friend who happens to be black, are friends with.

Typical liberal, whenever someone disagrees with your "annointed one" you always play the race card, got news for you, it doesn't work anymore.

What does Harry Potter have to do with Herman Cain?

No, Jake, he's explaining that if an overtly racist political party has a token black guy in front of a camera that automatically makes them not racist.

I don't know what it is about Conservatives that can't look at history to see what has and hasn't worked. All of the worst recessions, especially the great depression and the recession we are in now, were preceded by a period of lowered taxes and deregulation of business.

In the past, raising taxes has pulled us out of those recessions very consistently. If the goverment has more revenue it tends to provide more services, to provide more services it hires more people. These people then go out and spend those government paychecks, giving businesses more opportunity to expand. This expansion results in even more jobs and continues the cycle of growth.

FDR did it with the New Deal and pulled us out of the great depression. Clinton did it and pulled us out of the 90's recession. Obama is trying to do the same, but is being fought even harder by the Conservatives than either of those two presidents were.

They look back at that period of reduced taxes and deregulation and salavate at how much money was made before the house of cards came tumbling down.

So the answer must be to build an even bigger house of cards.

Glad I didn't go to school where you went to school, looks like they didn't teach history. I will explain below.

Word of Advice, never make that kind of claim when the person you are making the claim to has an unofficial minor in History. Actually the Recession began in the latter part of the 20s if I remember correctly began in Europe. A lot of countries owed the United States money and couldn't pay it back. It also didn't help that people were spending money that they didn't have.

Explains our Great Depression and Japan's lost decade. One of the mistakes that President Hoover made was to raise taxes, his creating an economic spiral into the ground is how Franklin D. Roosevelt got elected.
Hoover, a trained engineer, deeply believed in the Efficiency Movement, which held that government and the economy were riddled with inefficiency and waste, and could be improved by experts who could identify the problems and solve them. When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to combat the ensuing Great Depression with volunteer efforts, public works projects such as the Hoover Dam, tariffs such as the Smoot-Hawley Tariff, and raising the top tax bracket from 25% to 63% [1] none of which produced economic recovery during his term. The consensus among historians is that Hoover's defeat in the 1932 election was caused primarily by failure to end the downward economic spiral. As a result of these factors, Hoover is ranked poorly among former US Presidents.

This is how public schools are failing kids in the United States, they don't teach history.

We didn't get out of the Depression until World War II, the New Deal was arguably prolonging the Depression. Bill Clinton did not have this huge recession to deal with like you are claiming, and there was the dot.com bubble during the Clinton years, furthermore the ecomony really got roaring after the Republican Revolution led by Newt Gingrich in 1994. Specifically, Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich managed to sit down and actually balance the Federal Budget. The economy started to falter after Gingrich left political office (during the latter part of Clinton's second term), and Bush was left with a faltering economy (the result of the dot.com bubble bursting, probably not the fault of Clinton).

I have no respect for you because of your juvenile behavior.

What I actually said:

Actually I did, because it doesn't take a flippin Einstein to figure out Obama's policies are rather similar to President Hoover's policies.

Claiming speciously to have debunked a claim is not the same as debunking a claim.

Wrong! In 1937-1938 the U.S. went into a "double dip" recession on top of the depression. Unemployment was worse in 1937 than it was in 1933. What got us out of the Depression was the war in Europe. If you must thank anyone, thank Adolph Hitler. He got us out of our Depression.

Had the war not been brewing in Europe we might have suffered economic stagnation for another 10 to 15 years.

If there had been no war, then he could have spent the money building roads, bridges, schools, swimming pools, community centers and hospitals.

But, Nooo, we couldn't afford all that.

If he had built tanks and driven them into the sea, rather than across Europe, the economic result would have been the same.

Money was spent on roads, dams, power plants (Can you say Tennessee Valley authority?) etc. We still ended up in a secondary recession in 1937-1938. War was the only quick fix. And it worked. Following the end of the second world war, the U.S. had the best 30 years in its history.

You think the government can cure a rainy day, don't you?

The spending on roads, dams and power plants was miniscule compared to the spending on World War II.

The government can't do much about rainy days. Other than prepare for and respond to natural disasters.

Being overrun by the Hun is more expensive than beating the living sh*t out of the Hun.

If you recall, the U.S. was attacked by Japan and Hitler declared war on the U.S on Dec. 11, 1941. What do you think the U.S. should have done? The Germans were sinking our ships. Should we have just smiled benignly?

The government can spend and spend and print all the bogus money it wishes to print. It will not cure the the current economic paralysis and stagnation of the economy. The way to get rich is to invent new stuff, create new markets and make sure everyone can afford to buy the numerous goodies our industries can produce. Playing Zero Sum redistribution games will not accomplish these ends. We will end up like Britain did under the (old) Labor Party. Stagnant, decaying and in the doldrums.

Equalizing the misery which is the -best- the government can do is clearly not the answer.
