In the unpublished sequel -Atlas Rethinks his Untenable Position- they are reduced to incest and cannibalism in the Gulch because none of them knows the first thing about hard work and agriculture. It never came out because it was too much like -The Hills have Eyes-

Please provide a link for this alleged work, as it does not seem to be listed on the Ayn Rand Institute website or anywhere else on the Internet.

I just have a facsimile manuscript but the story is about a humanitarian team sent from United states of America (which survived the loss of the group without as much as a visible scar other than it seems that they have universal medicine)
to help airlift out the surviving children of the original Galt cult but they are stopped by the bug-eyed floppy breasted Mama Dagny, the matriarch of the incestuousness family. Who assaults and finally eats the rescuers the whole while trying to explain to them how they deserve to be eaten.

You left out the nice little fact that if they have over X number of employees they get hit with all the new costs and regulations from Obamacare.

Has the alleged original manuscript been vetted as Randian canon?

Is your facsimile copy a certified copy of the alleged original?

Where is the alleged original?

As it stands, the veracity of your story is in doubt, to say the least.

I doubt that there is any such Ayn Rand work entitled, "Atlas Rethinks his Untenable Position".

If I remember correctly the number is <50 total, so if you have multiple stores the total number of employees you can have is <50, so if you have 10 stores you can only have 5 employees at a store with the last store only having 4.

I didn't leave it out. Go and look at their website again.

These teabaggers are getting mighty desperate. Their heros, the Republican candidates, complaining that their aren't enough jobs, while the teabaggers seek deliberately to destroy jobs.

No, they aren't getting desperate, in fact given the regulatory nightmare and the additional uncertainty from who knows what else the Obama White House is going to dream up, one has to be a complete and total moron to hire anyone.

Yep. They're so desperate, they're getting delusional.

ruveyn

Before you read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, read "The Virtue of Selfishness" by Ayn Rand.

"Atlas Shrugged" is a cult novel of about 1200 pages. Her novel 'The Fountainhead" is a much better novel.

"The Virtue of Selfishness" is a collection of articles by Ayn Rand in which she discusses the ethics of her "Objectivism" as she tries to promulgate in her works of fiction.

There is also confusion of seperating "industrial producers" versus "business managers".

Businesses operate under legal licenses, which is often referred to by themselves as a "privilege" with the obligation to serve the community in obtaining and distributing goods and services at a reasonable profit.

Some of these businesses are artificially "bifurcated" into two broad and vague groups, for example, "commercial airlines corporate controllers" and "air-traffic controllers". When the air-traffic controllers went on strike, they were prosecuted and dispersed with governmental force. When the commercial airline controllers threaten to go on strike (shut their own business down), which by law, is conspiring to violate the law, what should the government do??? This is where one giant "flip-flop" in enculturated logic occurs, and the governmental action termed as "nationalization" of business is often necessary (Truman seizes steel mills, for example).

A very simple example of businesses committing major crimes is "price-gouging" during emergencies. Looting versus price-gouging/hoarding reduces the level of public-interest versus private-interest. In Nature, private-interest results in "might-makes-right", both for violent looting and violent gouging/hoarding. In nature, public-interest is an abstraction, more codified as a "Social Contract", which could easily become null-and-void in extremes, as Colonel Gaddafi recently experienced, and in which Ayn Rand's extreme followers are also likely to experience (in the Capitalist World, the looters are going to be 99 against each lone gouger/hoarder).

Captain Bligh had much better luck than Rand's Objectivists will have in the real world, and in the fictional world, the "Brave Captain" of the movie "Abandon Ship!!" had much better luck than Das Kaptain Willy of the movie "Lifeboat". One was a murderer, the other one was murdered after committing murder.

What you don't seem to understand about the real world is that high unemployment does not mean that there are no available jobs.

There are open positions out there. Just a whole lot of people applying for each one.

Businesses hire when it makes business sense to hire. Being emotional about whether or not to hire is stupid.

It's not only the destruction of jobs that the Religious Right Tea Party calls for but the Religious Right Tea Party also instructs the banking industry to foreclose on homes because they insist that liar loan applications violate the ten commandments.

@Fnord
I said businesses are without morals. They are amoral, not immoral.
Also, I did not say business owners are without morals.

If someone lied on their loan application to get a loan they should have their home foreclosed on and be in jail.

Actually Christian Fundamentalists teach the liar should be sold into slavery if the sale of the house does not cover the debt. But according to fundamentalism the liar gets his property back on the Jubilee year.

Last I checked, Fraud is an actual crime, so I really don't get where you're coming from.
