Actually, I don't think Ron Paul could beat Obama in a debate regardless of the format. He is just like Obama in the fact he is a rigid ideologue.

I haven't heard it put like that before; it's a good point. While I do think that debates can demonstrate important skills (or the lack thereof), thinking of it as a sport is a good way to look at it.
