Yes, this is indeed the zoo hypothesis, though I don't think I've ever heard it done up in such detail. The "Prime Directive" hypothesis is somewhat similar, but instead has the aliens keeping us isolated until we reach some social or technological milestone. While both hypotheses can make for good science fiction, they're not of much use otherwise.

They've already found life on other planets. Granted, it's not something that would build a ship to come visit us but still...

Not even microscopic spaceships?

Are you referring to Richard Hoover's claims of having discovered micro-fossils in a subset of meteorites with extraterrestrial origin?

Ah, no. I wish I had links to what I am referring to as I cannot remember enough to cite it. :?

Where? When? Please provide a reference to a reputable journal.

There's got to be intelligent life somewhere, and it's certainly not on Earth.

You are confusing intelligence with wisdom. Homo sapien is the smartest primate on the planet. He is not necessarily the wisest mammal on the planet.

It is good to see a Master in action ... There is much to learn from you.

That is the likeliest answer. The Cosmos is big, the stars are far apart and the speed of light is nature's speed limit for material bodies (pace, the findings of OPERA. We are not made of neutrinos).

I also think of the possibility, however, there are things that I take in mind:
1. A star similar to the sun with a star system (not sure how common star systems are) similar to ours
2. The correct habitable zone around the planet to handle life.
3. Life being able to evolve, just like life on earth.
If I'm correct on this:
4.The moon seems to have a lot to do with our life and evolution being possible, and
5. We are protected by Jupiter from possible extintion.

How much is the probability that all of these conditions meet in another place similar like our solar system, given this? To be precise how much is the probability of intelligent life elsewhere given conditions it has to meet?

Maybe there is intelligent life in the universe. Maybe they had come here sometime or other. But if they did, they probably left, thinking: "There's no intelligent life here on this rock."
