Pieces that don't fit. And, for God's sake, why would God need to state his prophecies in riddles and puzzle pieces. Why not be clear instead of being vague and conveniently saying stuff that can be interpreted in zillions of ways?

The New Testament Messiah was never named Immanuel, and the Hebrew for the word "virgin" is not in the Hebrew scripture.

Jesus didn't fulfill this as originally intended, though. He failed as the supposed Messiah as soon as he was crucified by the Romans.
His disciples had to, thus, spiritualize things in a very similar way to how Seventh-day Adventists spiritualized Miller's Jesus' Second Coming prophecy.

That contradicts all clear Messianic expectations in the OT if you think the above is a Messianic prophecy.
In other verses and passages in Isaiah, Israel is referred to as the Servant of God. And it is this same Servant that this passage refers to.
When Jesus died and failed to be the Messiah, his Jewish disciples were desperate to find prophecies in the OT that would fit with Jesus and still, in some twisted way, make him out to be the Messiah (on their terms). Isaiah 53 is one of them.
The above passage being vague and able to be fulfilled by almost an infinite number of figures being executed and punished by the authorities and such can easily fit the event of Jesus dying under the Romans. But it's not a remarkable prophecy if it can reasonably fit more than one event.

How do you know it's the Roman kingdom he's referring to?
The passage above is so coded anyway. Not a good thing for a prophecy to be remarkable.
