Btw, Gingrich was actually charitable to Romney when he pointed out Romney lost to Ted Kennedy, Gingrich could have said that Romney lost by trying to be more left-wing than Ted Kennedy.

Debates are pointless. Only the final elections matter, and then only to the Electoral College and not the ordinary voter.

Debates are important because they influence which way people vote and therefore influence whom gets to choose the delegates for that particular state in the Electoral College.
