Eh, I suppose a stink will have to be raised for national image's sake; personally I've got a bit of outrage fatigue at this point.

regardless of how low the other side might potentially stoop, why do we americans have to constantly prove we can stoop just as low? aren't we supposed to be better? when will folks learn that two wrongs do not a right make?

That was Al Qaeda. The Taliban was the Islamic fundamentalist government of Afghanistan and does not take part in terrorist activity abroad.

No but the Taliban still harbored and supported Al Qaeda. As far as I'm concerned, that makes the original declaration of war in Afghanistan a war of self-defense. Al Qaeda's main base terrorist training camp was in Afghanistan.

It is possible to not agree with something but to wish them well (or at least not wish them harm). I myself don't agree with the continuing occupation of Afghanistan but I'd hope as many troops came back safe as possible. And these were the ones that did make a choice to join.

It's a necessary psychological viewpoint for a people's own safety and security.

I know; I was eating my breakfast yesterday morning, whilst watching Al-Jazeera and it came on and I was like, 'ewwww'. So they're not just guilty of desecrating corpses, but also of putting me off my breakfast. I actually think the latter is a much greater crime.

They use the same hardline version of Sharia law to set their agendas, though.

They would be incapable of organising a party in a brewery. ;)

What about Gaddafi's death scene? That was emblazoned on the front of UK newspapers. ;)

I wasn't eating when I saw that. I was on the bus with my bf, and I picked up the Metro and he told me immediately to stop reading it next to him.

I don't wish them harm, I love them as fellow human beings. I just don't support them as troops.

If these soldiers peed on live people, would you object less?

No, I'd object more.

EDIT: although I actually wouldn't give a crap (no pun intended) if it wasn't broadcast whilst I was eating. It's not so much that I morally objected, I just found it digusting - which is a non-intellectual reaction that I can't help.

Probably best not to show you Arabic newspapers then.

You mean Muslim newspapers, most likely. Arabic is a language. Muslim is a religion with an associated culture.

I mean the ones that spray bloody pictures of death scenes on their front pages.
