If you take any stock in Jubilees

Jubilees 4:9 wrote:

And Cain took Âwân his sister to be his wife and she bare him Enoch at the close of the fourth jubilee.

Jubilees 4:11 wrote:

And in the fifth week of the fifth jubilee, Seth took Azûrâ his sister to be his wife, and in the fourth (year of the sixth week) she bare him Enos.

Adam and Eve's sons were marrying their sisters.

Who else could the children of Adam have mated with except the children of Adam.

I wonder why King Jimmy's translators used the verb "to know" when, from the context, it seems clear that the original meaning was "to shag?" Does the original Hebrew verb have multiple meanings, which include "to know" and "to shag?"

For the purpose of the poll, you may assume either meaning you wish.

The list got to be too long, so I removed

Judith
Bilhah
Zilpah
Cozbi
Jezebel
Salome
other (please elaborate)/I don't do chicks

So, you won't see any results unless you choose one. But, please elaborate on your choice, anyway.

Bilhah and Zilpah were Jacob's concubines.

It means "to know" including "carnal knowledge".

I wanna meet the Queen of Sheba!
But you dont even list her- probably the hottest chick in the OT. I like girts from the Horn of Africa.

I chose Mary Magdalene. I would like to ask her what it was like bedding the son of God and his disciples.

Myself and eve are actually the best of facebook friends.
We chat all the time.

I wish you would do a survey on men from the bible. David is very attractive according to Michelangelo's statue.

She's another one of those chicks whose name we never catch.

1 Kings 10 wrote:
And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not. And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built, and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

And she said to the king, "It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard. Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice."

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones. And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.

And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

2 Chronicles 9 says the exact same thing.

Maybe from this verse?

Quote:
And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty.

I've tended to interpret it innocently. Is "royal bounty" a euphemism for something?

I've tended to interpret it innocently. Is "royal bountry" a euphemism for something?

I think many of us tend to hold the language of the Bible to such a high level of honor that we miss that the writers are often speaking candidly about the subject matter. Is there really something wrong with "urinating up a wall" or is it colorful language intended to convey the mood of the speaker? Or is it code for something else? I think we accept that it's a euphemism for "men," and its usage well-timed.

Given Schlomo's reputation, that expression COULD be a reference to or code for something else as you suggest. But somehow I doubt it. There might be something in the oral tradition, though, but I really wouldn't have any idea.

I suppose when you read it

Quote:
... she came to prove him with hard questions. ...and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart. And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not. ...

It does seem rather fishy, doesn't it? They obviously hit it off quite well together. I don't know why Solomon was considered such a smarty-pants in his day. He had a personal copulation cabinet consisting of no fewer than 700 wives and 300 concubines. He must have had a reputation as a lover--bigger even than Ron Jeremy's reputation.

I suspect the only ones who actually called Solomon the "wise" were himself and his sycophants in the royal court.

That's quite a lot of gold--somewhere around 5 tons.
