War victims are great for the environment though. Good for the soil.

Well, bone-meal is rich in phosphorous, blood-meal is rich in nitrogen, but too much of anything is bad for the equilibrium in the topsoil. There must also be potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and various micronutrients. Environmentally-friendly cluster bombs could be equipped with packets of macro and micronutrients to offset the potential imbalance. 8O

You're right. Moving things from one forum to another is a huge waste of my taxes.

Bogan bucks,

sadly with the PPA party (peronist populist party of Australia ) aka liberal party they will dish it out at the expense of future growth/wealth eg the 1 st things they did in government was scrap the set for 15 % Keating (the king ) superannuation previously set up by him at 9% of wages.

What did they do instead made the bogans richer by creating inflationary home owning policies ie the easy and lazy way to do it (just the way they bogans like it) lets forever make money on capital gains , it worked for Spain and Ireland didn't it?

Sadly I suspect with this nonsense we will mirror Argentina in to the future actually we did in the late 19th /early 20 th century we where richer than comparable nations by a considerable margin declining in to the 2o th century all over it's happening again,

Again fueled by a mineral boom! doh!

Hard to pick just one.
Here's a few that come to mind:

Welfare.
Foreign aid to nations that have nothing to offer in return.
Bailing out large corporations that got themselves into their predicament.

Ah, yes, we now have an environmentally friendly fighter-jet. The absurdity of that notion gives me a migraine if I think about it for too long.

Well, they do fly them around allot, training goes on everyday year round.

While this may be true, it seems disingenuous to spend money on such a thing when people (human resources, collateral damage) die either way. I would prefer it if the US ceased such activities - I.E. the endless warfare the US pursues. I have a similar problem with predator drones and the entire idea of automated warfare.

In the United States, the biggest waste of taxpayer money is, by far, military spending. There is absolutely no excuse for it.

Second place would go to the subsidization of major industries (example: oil and gas, especially seeing as gas is poised to hit $4.00/gallon in some places and stay at that price pretty much forever).

Third place: bailouts of corporations and industries, especially major banks.

That is what they said the last time petrol hit $4.00/gal. Subsequently it went down as far as $2.85. Right now the price is being jacked up because Iran is withholding petroleum from the market. Time will tell how long this will go on. Iran needs the money.

I agree.
And No-bid military contracts should be outlawed.

I think some of the problem with gas prices is because it's tied to speculation. I think gas is already $4.00/gal where I live...I'll find out tomorrow when I fill up.

In the USA? Tax breaks for the rich, as well as the military. Failing to tax millionaires and billionaires appropriate to their income is the same as subsidizing them.

Many millionaires and billionaires are taxed at lower rates than middle class Americans not because of anything clandestine, but because the bulk of their income is not ordinary income. Rather, it comes from investments. These investments are taxed at lower rates to encourage people to make such investments. An ordinary person, provided they had money left over after paying for their living expenses, could make these same investments and be taxed on any gains on these investments at that same lower rate.

If the tax law were changed to tax these investments the same as ordinary income, that would remove the incentive to invest and this would ultimately be detrimental to the economy because we need people with a lot of money to invest in it.

Welfare in America is next to nothing. Still, the Repugnicans tell us that the problem with America is poor people and immigrants.

The poor and defenseless serve as scapegoats, to focus attention away from the real criminals who are sucking the country dry.

Among the worst: military contractors.
