i found this out when i was a Junior back in '10, i was excited for Craig Venter, they encoded all there names and a few quotes on the DNA, the quote in my signature, from American Prometheus is one of the wuotes encoded on the DNA

i see a lot of potential with it to be used for the good of mankind, i used the idea last year when i wrote my paper on Life Extension for English, course its still in its infancy and wont be relevant to my paper for another 20-30 years

im not gonna lie there is potential for abuse, but as long as the government does NOT get involved and it doesnt wind up on the Black Market(i am a huge fan of the Black Market as the only true Free Market in the world but it would be bad for something like this) and the scientists involved act ethically(Craig Venter is a former soldier, i think he was in Vietnam if my memory serves me right) then i dont see a problem, i see a lot of potential in BioTechnology, my paper on Life Extension calls for creating an artificial organ that naturally produces stem cells, its encoded to your DNA so your body wont reject it, and since its biological it would pan out very well i believe.

Neat. Never read about this before.

Ethical? Yes! The medical uses of being able to create life (which this is a step towards) are incredible!

Undermining belief in god? Probably not, those who believe in god tend not to think too much about things like this.

Beyond mans role? Nope. If we can do it, we can do it. There is no certain boundary we can't cross for fear of angering an invisible zombie sky man.

If this results in a real life Rise of the Planet of the Apes then it's fine by me. Image

Nothing wrong with creating artificial life as long as safety measures are taken.

Most of the chemical substances we use are artificial in that they do not occur in nature.

Many so called natural substance, for instance, human insulin is produce artificially.

If God can make a tree, why can't Man?
