It is true that it isn't rational to have spirtitual thought but the sons and daughters of Abraham Jews Christians and Muslims believe and whorship God they believe in something that is bigger then themselfs. That is the whole point of spiritual thinking and to think this way one must have. Faith if their is no Faith then the person can not believe spiritualy because Faith is simply believeing with out seeing and to believe in a afterlife and God one must have Faith because we have no physical proof of God or a afterlife. That is why we have Faith and that is why it will always be a more powerful thought then not believeing in God or a afterlife.
I believe that people can be spiritual without being utterly irrational and superstitious. One can have spiritual experiences while meditating, being on drugs, watching a sunset, listening to exhilarating music, or wearing Stanley Koren's "god helmet". As long as you're aware that it's all in your head, you're not being irrational.
However, that doesn't make spiritual experiences rational. That's like saying you're rationally in love, or you rationally enjoy a bowl of chocolate ice cream
Rational people do have emotions, but their emotions aren't rational.
You are correct, irrational, senseless ideas do carry more power than rational ones with the vast majority of ignorant humanity

You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do
