ir probably doesnt, you just want it to be, observer bias.

You know something I don't? What makes you think I want it to be that way?

observer bias is usually not known by the person afflicted by it and the data you presented were little more than bullet points, not actual data in context.

so true i made an assumption about you and it might very well be blatantly false but the point remains.
we as people need to examine our every intention and utterance to look for it if we want a chance of minimizing its effects on us.

LOL I was gonna say that you seem to be more guilty of observer bias than me. Unlike you, I ended my thought in a '?'

You proved yourself correct about people having bias, but that isn't the main question presented in this thread.

I'm sure either way, motherless or fatherless, a child is at a disadvantage, but why does it seem that the fatherless children are much more at a disadvantage?

Because single parents are much more likely to be women. 84% of all single parent families in the United States have a female single parent. Add to that the fact that single women are at an economic disadvantage over single men with respect to employment.

Fatherless children are at a disadvantage because they are the vast majority of children of single parents and they are much more likely to in or near poverty.

Look at that, gals! We're superfluous! Like a female seahorse or a female ostrich, we can pop out the kids, hand them over to dad, and disappear to live it up and par-tay! No negative impact on the kids whatsoever. Long live the new order!
(/sarcasm)
Visagrunt is right; it's mostly about having two stable parents around.

and that point was that you need some data in context and from a more reliable source, few actual data point are even aplicable outside the single study they were used in because of how many variables are involved.

and yes i am biased just like everyone else, i think i used we didnt i?

a single question mark does not an actual enquiry make.

OK, I just found the some stats on that, and you're right. I'm sure the figure does account for the other statistics a lot.
