maybe if police had to file voluminous incident reports each time they used one of those infernal things on somebody, they'd be a bit less eager to use 'em.

Nice one. Could you be more specific?

If I have to explain you wouldn't understand.
You won't like the way I explaine it either.

I will take this one.
1. the are dehumanizing because they are cattle-prods used on humans.
they work by causing pain essentially a torture device masquerading as "kinder" way to do policing.

2. Raptor is a conservative in the tough-guy vein so we should not except too much bleeding-heart stuff from him.

for me Raptor being against Tazers is a powerful argument against their use.

Please Raptor only threatens he never really fights quit bullying him.

Tazers are bad because they use pain for crowd control.
they are torture guns.

I can see they have their uses where the only other realistic alternative is to shoot them with a gun.

Take for example this fictional example on "The Experts" TV series the other day:

Some crazy naked guy is running down the street shouting expletives, covered in blood swinging a large fire axe at vehicles and lunges towards some cops clearly aiming to chop them with it. Which is the best solution for the cops:
1. Taser the guy.
2. Shoot the guy.
3. Take him on with a baton.
4. Stand there and be beheaded.
5. Run like f**k and let someone else deal with him.

In the program he was tasered, fell to the ground and was arrested. Turned out he was innocent of all crimes and was actually a victim of someone lacing his drink with a very large dose of LSD and he was hallucinating. The blood all over him was from his friends who someone else had brutally murdered with the same axe.
