I hated the degree to which the ad used psychological and emotional stimulus to make its point. It made a more thoughtful response difficult, as every time something was presented, I was thinking of "Ok, and why are they here? What is going on?", as national deployments usually have reasons, and ones like those described sound like an explicit peace-keeping method.(even if there are some crass minds involved with certain elements of it) The reason I say that is because I'm perfectly fine with strategically avoiding overseas deployment and there are some very good reasons to do so, but it isn't as much of a matter of an ideology for me, but it clearly is for the video. I mean, damn whether other nations care about whether American troops are overseas, the real question is whether American troops being overseas do net good. They may be obnoxious as hell and piss some people off, even to the point of violence, but that doesn't answer the question of net good.(After all, even native governments have obnoxious components, and have pissed some people off to the point of violence)
In context, there is a good case for many of our deployments not doing net good. However, the video does not speak to those concerns effectively.
