Doesn't China import most of it's food from the United States? You can't fight a war on an empty stomach.

I'm not advocating a war with China, but if one were to occur, I doubt China would win.

China has its own farms and crops they can cut off at any time.

I know they have farms, but it was my understanding that the USA imports food to China, not the other way around, and China doesn't have enough farms to feed it's own people.

I hated the degree to which the ad used psychological and emotional stimulus to make its point. It made a more thoughtful response difficult, as every time something was presented, I was thinking of "Ok, and why are they here? What is going on?", as national deployments usually have reasons, and ones like those described sound like an explicit peace-keeping method.(even if there are some crass minds involved with certain elements of it) The reason I say that is because I'm perfectly fine with strategically avoiding overseas deployment and there are some very good reasons to do so, but it isn't as much of a matter of an ideology for me, but it clearly is for the video. I mean, damn whether other nations care about whether American troops are overseas, the real question is whether American troops being overseas do net good. They may be obnoxious as hell and piss some people off, even to the point of violence, but that doesn't answer the question of net good.(After all, even native governments have obnoxious components, and have pissed some people off to the point of violence)

In context, there is a good case for many of our deployments not doing net good. However, the video does not speak to those concerns effectively.

When I first started watching this, I thought it was going to be about what would happen if America decided to go to war with China. Some people seem to think it's a good idea, but I don't think so. China isn't like Iraq or Afghanistan. China is a super-powerful country that is home to about one-third of the world's population. If America sends troops to invade China, they won't just try to fight a mainly defensive war like those countries in the Middle East. The Chinese would probably try to invade Hawaii and Alaska, and maybe even the west coast. There would also be a good possibility that we could lose the war and have to surrender on China's terms. It also wouldn't be a good idea to go to war with China because nearly everything we buy comes from China. The price of technology and most other goods would rise drastically if China stopped trading with us completely. Hopefully this doesn't end up happening. If America and China go to war, it will greatly interfere with our daily lives and probably turn into World War III.

I agree that it would be a poorly-made decision to ever go to war with the People's Republic of China. The only practical way (aside from using nuclear weapons) to win a war against China is to focus on not fighting a "land war." Utilizing ships would be the best option, since their fleet is still out-dated and they have only begun to take steps towards modernizing it...

In that case you might want to ask yourselves why you are allowing your governent to patrol the south china sea and to set up multiple bases on islands in asia near China - after being warned by the Chinese not to do so - those actions are already being interpreted by them as a threat.

I possess no authority in regards to making such decisions, so I cannot possibly "allow" members of the United States government to patrol the region.

I have always found it strange that America dictates to different countries whether or not they should be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction.

Yet America is still the only country to date to have used them on people causing mass murder, two atomic bombs.

Who is more of a threat, the man waving a weapon who you know has killed before, or somebody holding a weapon who has never killed before...?

What a strange world we live in...
