Well I never thought of it in that kinda terminology. Santa is Christian. He's more or less a conglomeration of a few saints. Nicholas, Christopher, etc. The problem is, people forget Christ and remembered only the saints, in the complete absence of Christ. But, it's through Christ saints get any of their wonderworking power, or really their ability to do any good. So lots of Christians really want to delete Santa from Christmas celebration, but this is a rather extreme thing to do, similar to iconoclasm. It's perfectly fine to celebrate saints. We celebrate President's birthdays as national holidays, so wonderworking saints deserve at the very least equal treatment. Just we have to remember that the saints were simply conduits for Christ to work through.

Anyway, to answer the OP question, God doesn't promise the same as Santa. For being good, we will not necessarily get good in return, and being bad will not necessarily get bad in return in this life. We do not know really how God will judge the world when he gets around to it, but we have been told it will be pretty harsh.

I've always thought it was cruel to teach kids to believe in Santa. The inevitable dissapointment that comes with knowing the truth is always crushing.

Do you remember the first Christmas you had when you knew Santa didn't exist? Wasn't it the most awful feeling?

It does prepares kids for the inevitable adult version of that too... When most people realise the stuff they'd been taught as kids in bible class was just myth and legend.

I don't. My parents told me from as early as I can remember that Santa isn't real and they bought the presents.

Yes, I'd say it's a very accurate comparison.

The moment when I realized that Santa Claus wasn't real was the first moment that I ever doubted God's existence. I still believed in God for a long time after that, but my faith weakened over time, and at a certain point, I just had to give it up.

I was upset and told the neighbor kid there was no Santa,then he was upset, then he told his parents what I said ,and then they were upset and they called my parents bit&@ing about what I said, then my mom was upset at me.So much for the Christmas spirit.

No, God fitting down the chimney on Christmas would paradoxically end all existence as we know it. I hope he never gets that idea.
