It wouldn't matter if he meant to be truthful . It would still be wrong to imprison him.

Of course he should not have been imprisioned either way. If he didn't mean to be hurtful, he did not even do what they accused him which appeared to be hurting people's feelings on purpose.

I voted to give him a Nobel Prize for courage, because he's obviously risking liberty or possibly even life by suggesting the crying Jesus statue is just due to a leaky pipe!

This truly should be a non-issue. I'm a Christian and our god is supposed to be Jesus, not statues of Jesus; statues have no power. That's pretty much idol worship.

Yep. Don't blame Christianity here - it's a law set in place by India's government... blame them. There, he'd be in the same trouble for speaking out against ANY religion, and I suspect they have to uphold this law if they want to use it for their preferred religions (rather than Christianity which is NOT popular/preferred in India.)

Let me be the first to say the law is pretty dang stupid. He should be applauded if the sewage pipe theory was correct... people will be getting SICK from those "tears".
