Can't say I or anyone else I know have any reason to hate Canadians. There are some cultural differences between us but not much more than what there is between the states or even cities in America. Maybe there is a bit of a little brother complex with some Canadians so there might be some friction from time to time when they want to distinguish themselves from there much bigger neighbor but that happens in America too. I grew up in Milwaukee and we've always been overshadowed by our much bigger neighbor to the south in Chicago.

Reminds me of an anime with countries for characters. Canada was sick of being mistaken for America and stuck a maple leaf on his head. America replaced it with a US flag. At least that's what someone told me happened on the show.

Americans are jealous of the Canadian healthcare system, and Canadians are jealous of American weather.

Just to be clear, I have no inherent grudge against Canadians. But something must be said:

Consider it this way: Compare how Americans joke about Canada and canadians vs. how we joke about Mexico and Mexicans!

There is more bad feeling between the north and south USA than there is between the whole USA and Canada.

And (I imagine) more issues between the Quebecois and the Anglophones of Canada then between canadians as a whole and americas as a whole.

But i do think that its the canadians who have an attitude about the USA- for much the same reason Mexicans do ( "we are so far from god, and so close to the USA"- as mexicans say) because they are weak countries next door to a giant. In contrast americans dont resent canada. Indeed, like Marilyn Monroe ( "when they said 'canada' I thought it would be in woods somewhere") and Al Capone ( "I dont even know what street Canada is on!")most americans just dont have thoughts about Canada at all.
