Feminism From My Point Of View
There is a difference between how you should treat people IN GENERAL and how you should treat SPECIFIC people. You are confusing general guidelines with absolute rules.
Just treat all people nicely until they give you cause to do otherwise.
And if you're going to say something nasty to a woman (or anyone) make sure it is about her behavior specifically, and not a blanket statement that's going to offend a lot of other people. In other words, don't badmouth women in general when you're actually just mad at a specific woman or group of women. No one likes to be stereotyped.
I wouldn't say feminism has caused women to mistreat others....while working towards my BA, I majored in psych and women's studies and sat thru class after class w feminists and studied different variations of feminist theory. With that being said.....feminism teaches acceptance and understanding of people's differences. If someone were to use feminism as a reason to mistreat another person...I would say they're clearly misunderstanding the viewpoints on which they claim to stand for. Feminism might focus on women's rights and those of other disenfranchised groups of people, it also teaches we are to reteach people who have learned sexist ways of living and not judge them for not knowing. There are guys who care to treat women w respect and those who do not. many guys see no wrong in using women for sex and basing their supposed worth on their age, weight, and physical attractiveness and dismiss them as inferior in general. Hence, sexism is alive and well.....
