Please, D&D books will be burned first....maybe with a copy of Farheinheit 451 for "character".

I was'nt able to lock down a confirmed source for the "Burning" part, but more and more media outlets are reporting it.

Outlawing Video games or trying to gather them up is a truly bogus idea.

People have a right to choose their entertainment.

I just thought of something.
You turn in some old violent game to them and get your gift certificate. Take that gift certificate and put it toward a newer and more violent game.
In other words use their stupidity to defeat their cause.
I like that...

Does anyone else notice that everytime a tragedy like Sandy Hook takes place, society blames everything except the real problem? If they want answers so d**n bad why don't they open their f*ing eyes?

Ugh! People are stupid, it makes me sick.

^^^^^I think it's lousy resources that are available for the mentally ill and their families,or no resources at all.It can be as fatal as cancer but does not get the funding to truly help people.
Or they fall thru the cracks, they make too much to get assistance, but not enough to purchase insurance. And the stigma that keeps people from seeking treatment. And family that does not understand or care.

Charles Whitman spelled out rather well (even for the limeted level of mental health research of the day) how to start addressing the issue and instead our benevolent overlords gave us the 1968 gun control act, which in their minds was supposed to make it all better.

The 1968 GCA had racist undertones, they did not want certain minorities to be armed.

Similar idea for a gun buyback: Buy M91/30 for $100, turn in for $200 dollars, buy another M91/30...the antigun lobby just gave you $100 for no reason.

Take that free $100 and buy a 440 round "spam can" of surplus ammo for that M91/30.
Maybe these gun buy-backs aren't such a bad idea after all.... :D

My opinion is that children shouldn't be playing violent video games, they are rated M, 16+ or even 18+ depending on your countries rating system for a reason. Buying back violent video games isn't the answer at all, parents need to be educated on what games are appropriate for their children. Also, adults over 17 who have a good mental state probably won't even think of trying to shoot up a place just by playing a violent video game.

Point is, violent video games aren't going away, they are protected by the 1st amendment.

I think most males and an increasing number of females in the western world of this generation have played "violent" video games from a young age and the vast, vast majority has turned out completely fine. Parents have been buying or making toy guns for a long time and kids run around pretend-shooting at each other imagining it being gory and violent to begin with. Obviously the solution is to ban the male imagination until the age of 18

Childhood these days is so different now, it's hard to imagine what kids do nowadays compared to us 90's children...

I'll try to shorten this explaination a bit, but here goes.

In the cases of gun violence:
People always seem to try to control gun rights, or at least increase the waiting period for guns, but they fail to realize that won't stop someone from getting one, and even if it did, it would just be something else, like a knife.

In the cases of apparent mental disturbance leading to violence:
People want to "medicate" those with mental problems, not realizing that drugs are more likely to cause violent tendencies than not being on them in the first place. And with this is also borne, paranoia, to those who seem "unstable" in the eyes of the public. Everyone's first thought is "fix them", even when there's nothing to fix or can be fixed.

Everytime there is violence, people look at the "why", the "how", and they want a reason other than the one they don't want to hear.

The real problem is people and society. They don't learn, they act irrationally with literally everything, and they condemn those not like them which 9 times out of 10, causes either suicide for someone being treated badly for that reason, or shootings in some form. People mistreating other people because they're different is the biggest cause of violence (imo), and honestly people don't recognize that. They'd rather say it was something other than their actions.

Ultimately there is no excuse for violence in any form, but if people want the real reason, they need to start looking at themselves and ask "have I mistreated anyone?", and if the answer is "yes" then they need to change. Only with universal love and compassion, can true peace be attained. And people are severely lacking in both.

One drawback, a piece of history may be destroyed, but there are 170 million of them out there.

I bet the gift card is for some business that most people won't frequent anyway.
