Thats right- about ending up on the floor!

And thats also right that like 'Jazeera', and 'gebra', we also borrowed the word "cohol" from Arabic.

The "al" syllable is just Arabic for "the".

But European language speakers didnt know better and kept that needless "al" syllable in the front of those, and other borrowings from Arabic.

So Al Jazeera, Algebra, and Alcohol, all have that similiar sound.

Alegebra isn't my strong point, but I know the basics. Couldn't hurt to learn more.
