And by deal with it you mean let people die?

In case of war, people will die whether we act or not.

True, but we could build up our deterrents by finding new technologies to use to counter our own equipment.

i seriously dont think at this juncture that its in America's interests to enter another arms race.

Not while a huge section of its society are suffering the austerity measures and the middle class are quickly joining the ranks of the have-nots. Its got far more pressing issues of a bread and butter nature.

China is tooling its defences not because it wants a war but because its erecting a sign saying "do not f**k with us".

The reason is it wants the status quo, it doesnt want change.

I see. I myself would not want to tread on their property. There is nothing wrong with defense, but lately some countries like North Korea have a way of saying "This is for defensive purposes only," to "We will wipe your country off the face of the map."

Now you are correct with China wanting the satus quo. That has been going on for many years before America was even founded, in fact I read somewhere that the absence of change is a part of ancient Taoism. Of course this is only from a book I read at the library once.

Drones have already been invented, though, just like nuclear weapons and can nor be de-invnented.
They will be in use until something better comes along.

I know. Yet this worries me that they are gearing up for an attack. Of course they have said they deny such actions, for now. There cyber hacking also frightens me. They could crack into our defenseive grid and disable our ability to protect us from drones and nukes as well.

We've screwed ourselves by doing business with them.

It's funny, I was watching Marco Rubio's speech at CPAC and he was ranting about how we could sit back let China become a world leader when they don't respect habeas corpus, torture, imprison it's citizens, endorse abortion, use forced labor, etc. Sounds awfully familiar doesn't it?

Stop worrying about foreign enemies and start focusing on the domestic ones that run our criminal government.

I see. Well we do have things in common in our government, yet I do not know about "forced labor"

Prison labor is a huge and growing industry in the US.

China and North Korea have very different political systems. China is a partial direct democracy, partial dictatorship with a pro market face. North Korea on the other hand is a pseudo theocracy with a titular god king as its incumbent head of state.

They both have atrocious records on freedom of expression and association, but thats where the existing similarities begin and end.

personally I look forward to the day that China is the worlds new 'top dog'. Their non interventionalist ethos will be a force for good.

Often times I like the fact that China's willing to get her hands dirty. As I perceive it "freedom" and "liberty" are just two ways of saying I don't give a whit about anyone but myself. And as for the criticism that life's bad over there, think about how much worse it was in the 50s and 60s. We want change NOW, but China seems to be taking her sweet time and ensuring stability, which is very sensible. Stuff gets done, but not rashly.

And no, China has no interest in war with us. Americans are simply touchy about their "top dog" status. Anyone even approaches us, we talk about how they're our enemies and Hoorah, we'll nuke 'em into oblivion. That kind of posturing makes me shake my head in disgust. War is in no one's interest.

They will be a force of conquest is what they'll be.
You won't realize how much you loved the USA for being the biggest kid on the block until it's someone else who really is a bully.
How do you like fried rice w/dog meat every day IF you're that lucky?

I read on an article that China is building drones themselves now. They have stated that in the slim a future conflict between the US that they could engage and swarm US aircraft Carriers in the Yellow Sea. Should this be concerning to the American public? :?

Oh yeah, because of all those foreign wars China's been in and all over the past few years, spreading Chinese ideals and defending Chinese interests throughout the world.

The People's Republic of China is a doomed state both politically and economically. There is no worry of China as we know it ascending to the preeminent world power, their decline would coincide with the US. While ditching their failed Marxist economy has revitalized and prolonged the current regime while the rest Communist world collapsed in on itself, it's a catch 22 at the same time for PR China. The more prosperous their people become the more of a tinderbox they become both politically and socially. It may not happen today, this month, or this year but it WILL happen.

Come now. The United States is as much a bully as anyone, we're just in denial about it. Take Iran. The whole reason we're in this mess is because the Iranian people decided to go democratic, decided they wanted to nationalize their oil. So we funded a coup, and put in our own puppet, who was an abusive jerk. Then 1979, and here we are. That wasn't bullying at all. Egypt? Tunisia? The Nicaraguan Contras?

Our hands are as bloody as anyone's.

You need to possess either (1) an unfathomable level of naivety or (2) an unfathomable level of paranoia to think that China can hack 18 Ohio Class Submarines.
