I would give early civilisations the understanding of contraception and basic medicine.
Should be an interesting effect on patriarchy, overpopulation, and religion.

No need for women to be dependent, devils to be exorcised, etc.

Prevent parachute pants, shoulder pads for women, and the mullet.

Messing around with time can be very dangerous.

You will not succeed unless you can effect a philosophic revolution in earlier times. To use technology effectively there must be a grasp of the underlying science.

I would observe the rise of Sumer

I would meet Gustav II Adolf

I would buy Erasmus a drink

I'd weasel my way into being a disciple of Christ, just to see what the man was really like

I'd meet the Buddha

That's just for starters.

Yes, I was thinking along the lines of spermicidal plants and basic anatomy with simple explanations.
And a "where did it start to go downhill for humans" concept.
I'd probably do better to spot the emerging proto-amphibian and squash the thing before it could breed. :)

I would make sure Constantine had never been born.

Make very different relationship/friendship choices.

This would mean seeing people for who they really were/are, which is a BIG difficulty for me.

Believe more in myself when I had options years ago.

Go to college when it was possible.

Handle money VERY differently.

Be more appreciative of people around me when I had the chance.

I'd invent beer and guitar, marry a nice cave lady, and live a happy family life.

When cave ladies lived, life was nasty, brutish and short.

I would go to the future to get equipment then travel to the past to see the dinosaurs-and then ride on a mammoth! I'll hopefully come back to tell you guys about it.

You simply cannot drop equipment on technical primitives. There is the matter of background concepts which they do not possess but you do. If you set out to teach them it will take years to overcome their already existing cultural structure and years more to introduce the background behind these implements which the locals will regard as magic. In fact they may think you are a demon and kill you. Some gratitude that is!

There was a TNG episode where these proto-Vulcans thought Picard was a god.

I would walk into the city of Ur bearing a gun, glow in the dark paint, a broth culture of O157:H7 and a stave, with LEDs and batteries (maybe a solar charger like my phones charger) built into it. Megalomania... maybe not.

I might just go looking for Jesus or mohammed instead.

Going back in time, so many opportunities to try to make changes to history.
