Muslimmetalhead I recall, not long ago, you posting about playing video games, listening to music, and even, IIRC, playing Pokemon. It seems like you hate the person you used to be, and you have a low self-esteem in general, which is why you seem so angry and bitter.

Are you a happier person now that you've given up pointless s*** like Pokemon, art, and music (the latter two of which have been respectable entertainment for non-nerds for milennia), and decided to work out all the time, instead? Possibly you are, but I wouldn't think it going by your post right here.

I work out about every other day. It's nice. It lets me burn off my energy, get in shape, feel better mentally and emotionally, and have fun (on the occasions where I play a sport). Once I've put in my time and energy, I come home and play games, listen to music, create awesome game prototypes and 3D art, etc. So... perhaps the key is balance?

Or, even better, the key is each individual doing what he or she finds the most fulfilling. :)

I don't understand people who talk about "not wasting your life", "every second is precious", "live every day as if it were your last", etc.

"There is a constant time limit! Even when I am sleeping, the clock is ticking! I need to get lots of stuff done before I die! Oh no, I've already wasted my life so far! I need to make up for it!"

If I thought like that, I would be paralysed, and I wouldn't get anything done. Getting things done requires focus, and I can't focus if I have a time limit in my head.

I think that one of religion's best features is that it reassures you that stuff in the material world doesn't matter very much. This allows religious people to just get on with life instead of stressing about it. I think this is why religious people often get more stuff done than atheists who go on about "every moment is precious".

In regard to the original OP:

I honestly don't know. I think it's for bragging rights. "Who knows more facts".

I don't hang around atheists any more than I do fundamentalist Christians. They have made a new religion out of atheism and are often just as hateful and mean as the fundies, too. I chose to remove many of my atheist friends on Facebook because almost all of their posts were comments about how all non-atheists are "stupid neanderthals". Which is completely hypocritical since they are constantly complaining about how Christians hate anyone who is "different" and since atheists like to brag about how "inclusive" they are. Too many atheists nitpick from "facts" to build their own "reality" though they never realize it.

It's just another high school clique. Of adults.

Which is one reason I can only stand to socialize with one person at a time. Easier to figure out what they really think instead of being influenced by stupid labels and group mentality.

Second this.

I agree with Einstein.

And do you want to know what is really ironic? We are using technology to interact with each other right now instead of interacting face to face.

Essentially I said, why dafuq are people who claim to be rational, analytical (atheists as a generalization) people waste their time on pointless nerd crap?

Like no offense but it doesn't help us progress?

I am an atheist and I am agnostic, and I have no idea what "nerd culture" is like. I am very offended by your comment, because you seem to be implying that atheists are worthless people and are very stupid because we happen to not believe in God.

Einstein does not have a quote like that.

Enlighten me.

I *waste* my time with the things above, because I like doing so. There is nothing wrong with it, and it has nothing to do with being ''a competent intellectual''or ''a nerd'' or ''an atheist''. I have neither capacity nor desire to be an ubermensch. Secondly, give me the definition of ''pointless''. What makes you believe that physical training is *superior* to playing Pokemon? Health? Good looking? Whatever it is, at the end it should be all about being content/happy. Everyone is trying to find happiness. There are so many happiness sources to be exploited, such as religions, music, national pride, sexual intercourse, football matches, books... Maybe you can find happiness only by physical training or else. But I want to play video games, read books and play my guitar. That is all.

It would help immensely if your questions parsed like standard English instead of urban slang.

Because I find joy in doing those things that supposedly aren't worth my time.

That makes them worth my time. Life is too short not to have fun when you can.
