Perhaps you shouldn't comment on things you are ignorant of. I'm not sure if you're actually familiar with who Chris Christie is or what he is all about, I'm not sure how familiar you are even with Hiliary Clinton. The only people that are excited about the choice between Hilary and Christie are Democrats. They offer no change for America, they'd just be the next step to executive dictatorship.

I'm not worried about Christie winning the nomination; he won't be able to compete in the GOP primaries, he'll get destroyed in the debates, and he just isn't a likable guy.

Anyone who has anything to say about politics other than that it is a corporate beauty pageant is a complete and total idiot for f**k sack the supreme court said it is perfectly legal for anyone to bribe government officials.

Briefly:
Christie is against abortion (with exceptions: rape and threat to mother's life); Clinton is pro-choice (but wants fewer abortions)

Clinton wants to raise business taxes; Christie wants to cut them

Christie is against gay marriage; Clinton is in favour.

They differ on three of the most controversial issues (at least in America), but are united on some centrist issues like green energy, decriminalisation of drugs, expanding healthcare...

Better to have two viable selections who differ slightly than one crazy selection and one guy who is somewhere between "alright" and "not quite as bad". This would actually afford America an element of choice that they didn't have with either Obama election.

Both are uncomfortable with abortion as are most people. The status quo will be maintained
They are agree that corporations should be taxed and that they should not be taxed enough to make a difference.
Marriage equality while important only directly effects a small percentage of the population.

Essentially they agree on everything that makes a difference and disagree on window dressing.

American Republicans are kinda like British Tories.
Democrats well they are Tories too. :oops:

Christie and Clinton would probably both find homes in the Conservative party (though Clinton would probably fit better in the Liberal Democrats). Santorum, Bachman, Gingrich et al. would either be lunatic Tories who could only get elected in safe seats and would then be forced to sit on the back benches, or would be in UKIP.

Whilst the three main British parties seem to all clump around the centre and make small adjustments from there, the American orthodoxy increasingly seems to be centre-right, and if anything moving to the right. Maybe if the left wing of the Democrat party was more vocal then you'd move into a centrist position.

I don't think you should be annoyed at the possibility of having two credible candidates. Republicans who want more/better medical spending? Decriminalise drug possession? Less reliance on oil? That's a good thing. Better than running Hillary against a Tea Party candidate so she only has to promise to not be that bad, or a Paulite so she maybe has to say she'll stop extra-judicial drone use in Pakistan whilst winning on almost every other issue.
