Pornography
A very wide range of things are lumped into one word.
Some things are very tame by most standards and pretty much only celebrate the beauty of the human body.
Many other things are quite explicit, other things are downright weird. Then there are the obvious violations of human rights.
And many of us put different things into different categories, and are "turned on" by different things.
where do you draw the line?
Many things people wear every day in public could be considered pornographic.
The how about modern advertising?
I was defining it in this debate as the commercialization of sexual intercourse in order to stimulate sexual excitement.
It's hard to rob a store or make a drug deal with one hand...
And this dopamine generating activity..is an adequate substitute for some...
And there is also some research that suggests that porn overall decreases the desire for actual sexual intercourse...
So that's a win overall for overpopulation...
IT would probably be a plus..to get it widely available in middle eastern countries..as with free access to a thousand virtual virgins in an hour..there isn't nearly as much incentive to kill..to gain a prize after death of only 72 virgins...
After all porn can release some tension..overall..
But yeah..moderation is key..it is an effective tool for pleasure taken in moderate doses...
And it's never going away now..so we might as well take the best 'logical' advantage of IT...
A little off topic..but VEVO is paving the potential for some spread of sexy videos (but not too sexy) in countries that currently censor all youtube videos..in the middle east...
World Peace with SEx..It's a potentially great IDEA..i think...
After all it seems to work fairly well for our Bonobo cousins....
Yes, true although, we have transcended our bonobo cousins and unlike them have a choice regarding our sexuality whether we wish to indulge in excessive amounts of polygamous sex. As for pornography limiting crime? Who is saying this and what is the empirical evidence to prove that that is the case? There are tribal societies that do not have access to pornography and have extremely low crime rates.
The research that porn reduces crimes has been around for over 5 years now..
Rather than detailing all the resources here..if you care to.. just do a search with google on the
exact quote:
'"internet porn reduces crime"
and you will find plenty of references from reputable sources...
Bonobos don't have access to porn either...
And tribal societies are often much less repressed in their sexual activities...
And yeah...they tend to run around naked..and touch either a lot and all of that...
People are sexual beings..and so are all other animals who reproduce with a penis and a vagina...
Dogs and cats give themselves blow jobs..so they are an advanced type of sexual being in this way too..as they can more easily satisfy themselves...
We are still sexual animals..anyone who tells you anything else is simply living in an illusion derived from human abstract language and collective intelligence...
People like to f**k..that's how we got here..after all...
But not all people..in fact a higher than usual percentage of people on the spectrum are asexual...
I can live without it if I have too...2.. but nah..some folks need a lot..they are simply different..my friend..
So they will use whatever resources are available to 'GET SOME'..
REAL OR VIRTUAL...
SEX IS THE HIGHEST DOPAMINE GENERATING ACTIVITY FOR MANY HUMAN BEINGS...and other penis and vagina reproducing animals as well...
SO IN EFFECT PORN IS HEAVEN FOR THOSE FOLKS..
It's a really a dream come true...
But for individuals who are susceptible to the disease of addiction..it can be a potentially devastating 'habit'.....
And oh..by the way..the Bonobo comment was just a tongue in cheek expression...sorry i did not make that clear here..on a site for people on the spectrum...it is very important to validate and repeat communication to avoid miscommunication..among people on the spectrum..i think..so sorry 'bout that...

I would hazard a guess and say most of the people who work in the pornography industry do it because they want to. There are such people as exhibitionists, like strippers etc who must like what they do.
The only issue is when people are forced into pornography, like child pornography for example. Then it is very damaging.

I am not sure about that, I think there are some women and men who do and some who probably don't. Some may find it the most economically viable way of gaining an income and are willing to be exploited in order to attain that goal even if at times it is painful for them. I must say a lot of the women I have seen in pornography don't seem to be particularly enjoying it but perhaps I am misinterpreting it. A person with aspergers probably isn't the best judge when it comes to interpreting human emotion. I think it varies though. I agree, if it is non-consensual, then that is awful. I think the industry needs more regulation.
Doesn't seem sexist to me - condoms protect both women and men, and escort services (male and female) are usually required to have a business license anyway.
If a person wants to use his or her body to earn a living, then what difference does it make if the person is a sex worker, a fashion model, a ballet dancer, or a professional wrestler?

The word "pornography" is actually rooted from the Greek term "porneia", which originally referred to prostitution. Later in the Old Testament era, it became associated with behaviors like sodomy and adultery. By the time of Christ's earthly ministry, it had become a blanket term used to describe all sex acts between two people, practiced outside of monogamous, man-woman marriage.
While many of our English translations use terms like "indecent acts" or "sexual immorality", the most often-used manuscript term is "porneia". Since pornography is a combination of that word and "photography", the self-evident conclusion is that any material designed to encourage sexual expression beyond heterosexual marriage is pornographic.

Well, I think that's fine, so long as all parties are completely consenting. Even if it's to fund one's drug habit, they still consent to the drugs and all consequences stemming from that (behaviors while on the willfully taken drugs and measures taken to fund the habit)

In the instance of this discussion, yes that is what I am referring to. Yes, although it is very difficult to tell when things are consensual or not and whether society has played some role in drug use and so forth. Also, as I said in my original post, it depends on your definition of consensual. Many of the women may be going into the pornography industry out of their free-will because it seems like the only economically viable way to attain the income she requires. It is similar to prostitution. It is of a woman's free-will to partake in it yet considering economic conditions may be her only option or at least the best option and thus in a way free-will is severely limited. Also, a woman might be consenting to entering the industry but once she is part of it has to partak4 in things against her will.
Doing something because of financial pressures is still doing something consensually.
It's only really against someone's free will if they have been physically abducted and held prisoner. Or if there are threats of violence against them or someone close to them. Of course, some may enter the industry consensually, then fear may keep them in.
They are bullied to keep doing it. That isn't cool either.

I agree but it is free-will within vary narrow boundaries. Not that is could be considered equatable but it is similar to picking the weapon your are about to be attacked with. I agree, it is consensual but it is occurring within a highly limited bandwidth of freedom.
