Unfortunately, being non-heterosexual is still an issue in a society where old prejudices, while fading, are still noticeably present. In this light, I think it's encouraging for people who are LGBT to come out – particularly those with a high profile. It makes it easier for other young people to be more accepting of themselves and others.
Being a young man, it doesn't really surprise me that he's talking about his relationships publicly. His high profile means it becomes known to a wider audience. I don't have a problem with it; if it becomes annoying, I can always just pay attention to something else.
If Tom Daley does have to explain anything, he should explain why he's so ... damn ... good ... looking. Otherwise, best of luck to the young man and for his Olympic career.
