Young Mor(m)ons
Oh, I don't know - there is some very nasty religious bigotry out there directed at all religions. The kind of stuff that makes people of certain religions out to be Satanic and evil.
(And yes, I've seen some anti-Muslim stuff that made me very queasy indeed.)

But that's not really bigotry, it's just hate. And I hate Islam as much or worse than Christianity, but Muslims themselves are nice people. It's usually not their fault they are part of a terrible religion.
I don't want people proselytising their religion to me. And Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons are the ones particularly involved in doing this.
That said, Mormonism is non-existent here in the UK, and Jehovah's Witnesses haven't been around here in years. If they came round now, I'd probably freak out.
I don't like unannounced visitors.
I love Mormon visitors! I love proselytizing too! If their religion were really true, I would expect nothing less.

And I NEVER criticize anyone's faith, no matter how repulsive I find it. Faith is not just part of who you are, but how you structure your values in this world.
I agree that Mormons are nice people. However, faith needs to be criticized. I respect people but not religions. If faith produces nice people, the corollary of that is the faith that burns people alive for witchcraft. It all the same disease.
I just want to add that bigotry only exists for one's immutable traits, like race or sex. One's adopted ideology is fair game.
Here's my standard for evaluating religions: If they do not cause harm to life or property through their doctrine or their religious process, then they have equality with other religions. That doesn't mean I like all religions that meet that standard, but that does mean I keep my opinion to myself. One of the things about living in a free society is that you have a whole bunch of diverse actors. Learning to live and let live helps to maintain the peace.

Faith itself causes harm to life and property. Of course religious freedom is of primary importance. But I feel perfectly free to spread my opinion among all who will listen.

Um, no it's not. Just because no one is knocking on your doors doesn't mean there are no mormons.

The Mormon missionaries that I've spoken to have all caught me out of the house, I think they definitely prefer being out in the neighborhood running into people as they come than going door to door. I'm too nice of a person to say that their hocus-pocus doesn't interest me so I usually end up talking to them for a few minutes and taking some literature so they feel don't feel bad without giving any of my personal information out. From the conversations I've had with them it seems like they take a lot of abuse so I don't see any reason why I need to add to that.
PROTIP: be careful not getting hustled by these guys in basketball, one of the few things these missionaries are allowed to do is play basketball so some of these kids have some real surprising game and they're eager to play even in their dress clothes.

Well, sure! What do you expect? Every red-blooded, American mormon male's dream is to get a full scholarship to BYU. Not just anybody makes it, so you better believe these guys got game.

I agree with the second part, but I know former Mormons. The church has a policy of stalking people who try to leave. So, yeah, I guess that they are "nice guys" after all.
I tried to read their book, just to have some idea what it was about. Every sentence starts with AND!! ! I absolutely refuse to put up with that kind of nonsense.

In the U.S.about 2% of the populous are Mormons.
The UK has the highest percentage of Mormons in Europe (0.3%), apart from Portugal.

I knew a mormon girl once (aged ~ 18). She was unhappy about her church taking (10% I think) of her wages but she was stuck. Her parents were part of the mormon church and she would face lots of problems if she tried to leave.

They are not allowed to knock on my door
the mormon church is mind controlling cult that tell it's members what to think, eat, wear and who to date. they have so called worthy interviews where somebody question them including prying into their private lives

My experience with "public" Mormons is the same as most. I find them happy friendly people.
But my experience with religion and other groups with a bureaucracy has shown me there can be two sides to the coin.
This link http://www.mormoncurtain.com/topic_moun ... sacre.html mentions ugly deeds perpetrated by officials of the Mormon church. It's incomprehensible to me how people who call themselves religious could ever think of doing such a thing, but this was the thinking of the "elders' and the rule was you must obey the elders.
This may sound like ancient history but as your lifetime moves into an area between a half-a-century and 100 years you approach recent history with a different understanding; it really hasn't been all that long and I wonder how the policy of the bureaucracy of elders has changed toward perceived threats to their beliefs; they are quite "strong headed" when it comes to certain things.
Mormonism is a better experience from the outside. If you're in, you can kiss your sundays goodbye; they'll saddle you with a "calling", which translates to an extra, unpaid job. If you're born into it and play by their rules, you'll be so wound up and lovesick by the time you finish your mission, that you'll marry anyone just to get to the consummating part. Of course, I'd tell you the premise of most religions is depressing; obey their rules long enough to die a good person.
If you're not a mormon, you'll notice that mormons are friendly and accommodating. I'll bet any of you could get help moving from your local missionaries free of charge, which is a great deal as long as you're not one of them.
