There is work, and then there is work for works sake.

I am rigidly opposed to the latter.

Just opposed to the latter, eh?

Yes, labor it marketable. Nothing new there.

A toilet scrubbing robot? So they get the robots and can the janitors is what you think they should do?
Or do you think they will automatically moved up to your hated bankers and CEO's.

If your house is on fire do you believe you have the right to a fire engine/fire truck?

Or would the true believer libertarian not grab a pail of water and endeavour to put out the flames himself?

There are many rural areas in this country that operate subscription fire services actually, if I live one of those areas and choose for whatever reason decided not pay for those services then I wouldn't be entitled to them.

Yes.

Work can be liberating and enriching, or punitive and degrading.

I support the former.

Thats not what I meant.

Raptor wrote:

I'm referring to the fact that there are faster, more efficient, healthier, safter and better modes of getting the job done.

The reason its marketable to co-erce humans into doing the tasks is specifically because humans produce less. When you get into a state of overproduction, it reduces the market value of goods.

Thats the sole reason humans are still doing these tasks.

The examples were'nt meant to be exhaustive.
I believe that any form of work or production that can be automated, should be.
Then we ought to roll out universal education and remove ridiculous hurdles such as university fees which are exhorbitant and only serve to obfusticate people's chance of embettering themselves.
Raptor wrote:

If i had my way, there would be no banking or faceless corporate institutions.

What we need is a holarchic system (as opposed to heirarchic) that utilises resource based economics.

The alternative is the inevitable destruction of our planet, and of the human species.

Its juicy the way you criticise anyone on the basis of sloth while upholding a system that sustains the indulgence and mislaid respect of bone idol parasites like Paris Hilton, the British Royal family, the Kardashian sisters or overpaid sporting premadonnas with dubious claims to talent.

Someone ought to make a similar list for the anti-Libertarians. Then, we could just copy and paste.

Ok, bad example then. In my country we don't have private fire brigades.

Must be a nightmare though to find your proof of statutory rights and remain cool when your prized posessions are being incinerated.

Do you maintain the right to a police visit if you have been a victim of crime?

Or have they privatised even the police too?

The OP is a daylight mugging of the discipline of comparative politics.

Well, I already pay for it by taxes so yes I would be entitled to it but if I had a choice to not pay then I probably wouldn't but this may be another bad example since I hate cops. I don't know how the police are in Northern Ireland but where I'm from they do more to terrorize than to protect, they're an occupying army enforcing arbitrary at best and sometimes cruel and unjust laws. If taxes for police were voluntary then maybe they would be more responsive to the actual needs of their communities.

...if i can extrapolate anything from my experience of dealing with my utility providers, banks, financial service providers, internet providers or catologue companies its that i've been put on hold too many times or been held up in the process of entering credit card information to know i do not want the private sector ANYWHERE NEAR our emergency services!

Imagine trying to call for an ambulance while in the throes of having a heart attack only to find the clerk on the other end is having problems finding your customer details. Or that your credit card has expired/been cancelled. Boy that must be fun.

Public safety and emergency services really aren't big concerns of mine. I'm sure you'd agree with my issue with paying taxes for wars of aggression, bail outs of big business, and spying on friends and our own citizens.

Quote:
If you’re an anarchist, keep pointing out the ‘failure’ of Marxism while ignoring the fact that your ideology has a 100% failure rate throughout its entire history. Blame those failures on Communists, or stronger military powers. Ignore the fact that the most wonderful society is worthless if it can’t defend itself from reaction.

I don't believe anarchists are incapable of defending themselves from reactionary forces. We can have well organized militia with commanders, that would be rotational rather than permanent. It took the combined effort of stalinism, facism and western "democracies" to end anarchism in Spain. States today would have a lot of trouble doing what they did in WWII today because there is a lot more communication. Joe average didn't know what was happening in Spain, if people knew how successful the economies were, they would have got very angry at their governments.

The problem with many Marxist strategies is that they are coups waiting to happen. If a Marxist gets elected all the capitalist states have to do is assassinate he/she and replace he/she with a random puppet. In anarchism there isn't a single target, because leadership is more spread out.

Any claim made by the list, can be used to defend fascism as well, especially given that the Social Republic of Italy had a better welfare system than the USSR did.

Oh, by that you mean she paid taxes during her healthy years?

I bet in hindsight when she was staring the grim reaper in the face she didn't find altruism so evil.

same argument could be made about Jacoby's grievance about me wanting to 'take away the fruits of his labour'?

How does he know I haven't paid for it? Whether through hard cash or blood sweat and tears?

None of the above personalities have taken anything from me and I don't give diddly to them. I don't even care if they live or die.

I don't even have the time to address all your other rantings. It looks to me like you're on a rampage against anything having to do with capitalism, which is usually a sign of someone not having the will to earn any capital themselves.

If the only reason for a business to exist is to make money, then the business by itself has no merit and there's no need for it. Yet capitalism supports such endeavors wholeheartedly.
And quite contrary to the quoted statement, the left doesn't punish entrepreneurialism and reward sloth, it just feels no pressing need to artificially add reward to activities.
Ambitious people exist regardless of money. Lazy people exist regardless of money. In fact that 'lazy' people still exist despite being punished for their laziness should tell you that our reward system is inherently broken.
