UKIP adbuster explains his actions.
Criminal damage is what it is.
One of our local candidates (a lovely man of senior years) was abused by a woman in the street who raced out of her house and screamed abuse in his face and tore his bag open. She ran off when she realised that a much bigger man was coming to check on him to make sure he was OK. We all had a good laugh about it afterwards but there are some crazy people out there.
Another of our candidates is really a very gentle and soft-spoken woman who really wouldn't say boo to a goose. But she is standing for what she believes in.
I'm consistently amazed by the diversity of the backgrounds of the people we have in our party. We all have one thing in common - we want our democracy back.
Roll on 22 May!
I think the Green Party are a bunch of w*kers and I hope they get electorally annihilated.
I demand to see their posters and have them left untouched. Put a large one on my street if you like so that I have to walk past it, I don't care.
I expect the same courtesy to apply no matter what the party - Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem (who they?), UKIP, BNP, Liberty GB, Greens, RESPECT, SSP etc etc.
I would vote for his party no problem. I didn't particularly mind the chanting - I've taken it as a motto.

Minder! Minder! Minder!
Looking forward to a good showing for PVV in 22 May.
But wait, I thought you were a supporter of diversity of opinion?
Or you only like people to hold the reins of political power whose views you find 'personally palatable'? You're a hypocrite.
"We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant."
- Karl Popper
Or, in plain English: Giving individuals who seek to restrict freedom the freedom to rise to power will result in a loss of freedom.
Seeing as you have expressed empathic support for both The Soviet Union and Gaddafi's Libya on WrongPlanet, it is only fair to allocate you to the "individuals who seek to restrict freedom" category. After all, both The Soviet Union and Gaddafi's Libya were very much against "diversity of opinion".
Seeing as you - even when living in the UK, which has produced some of the greatest minds in history when it comes to the concept of tolerance - apparently have no respect for the principle of allowing political parties to compete on an equal basis - and that you are more than willing to accept (and even endorse) restrictions on specific political parties that you disagree with... I find it highly likely that you would be a much, much greater threat to liberty and justice should you ever attain political office.
As a result, I respectfully maintain my claim about finding myself lucky to live in a part of the world where people like you do not hold the reins of political power.

But he was talking about people of Moroccan descent who are already citizens. Many of them were born here. You can't kick people out of a city or country because of their ancestry.
Funny thing, while I was typing this I decided to do the political compass questionairre for the EU elections. Guess what party came out on top? PVV... bleh. The site even gave recommendations if you are a citizen of another country, if I lived in the UK the recommendation would be UKIP.
I'm not going to vote for PVV, but I also don't want to vote for the mainstream parties who are all ridiculously in love with the EU. I don't like the excessive anti-immigration crap from most anti-EU parties. I like that I have the right to live and work in for example Germany. Without the immigrants from eastern Europe, nothing here would get done. If you implement a free market and not free movement of people within that market you are just exporting jobs to the low wage regions. So many businesses here survive only because of workers from abroad. The alternative is to close up shop here and move the business abroad.

Like what UKIP would like to do. UKIP are not in any danger of going without publicity. Hell, their problem often seems to be too much publicity of the bigoted views of their members/supporters (the right-wing press have created a monster they can't control, so are now in trying to reign it in).
So, vandalising a few billboard posters in a spirit of political engagement won't do much harm to UKIP, but it will get out there that there are others who take against the party when you'd be hard pressed to know so from media coverage. It is a way of making that dissent public, of putting it out there.

I'm sorry. The WP software must be buggy for me again. Could you repost your similar assessments of the remaining UK political parties? My screen only shows your UKIP assessment. Must be a software error.
Obviously, I assume that you would place much greater emphasis on "making that dissent public" for political parties that have more than 0.0 percent of the seats in the House of Commons and more than 0.4 percent of the seats in the House of Lords... but I'd prefer direct confirmation, nonetheless...
Wow, from the media coverage I had expected UKIP to be much bigger. Quite surprised they had 0 seats in the House of Commons. Just read on wiki that they got 3.1% of votes, that would mean 20/650 seats. Even though I wouldn't vote for a party like UKIP, it seems a really unfair election system.

Very good.
I should make clear I'm all for acts of vandalism on billboards ads, be they commercial or political, bar perhaps those carrying vital public information. I'm not sure if the latter exists.
UKIP are polling at about 35% for the upcoming European elections. We have a general election coming up next year, where they could find themselves making parliamentary gains. They have had press coverage way beyond their representation in Parliament. I suppose it quite depends on what you have in mind when you talk about freedom and democracy, but UKIP want to restrict immigration as much as possible - you know, freedom of movement.
They are the only party to explicitly ban previous BNP members. As one comedian observed, this is a bit like a restaurant making a point that it has rat traps strewn across the building.
As to the three main parties in the Commons - they're a shower of bastards. Not much to tell in difference between them on many issues. Sometimes to the good - Gay marriage - usually not - 'let's see who can beat up most on the disabled and unemployed'. I heartily endorse public protest as one sees fit.
Just beware of the police, who may not be as keen on protecting your democratic freedoms as you've been advised: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fc7_1391532479

The overarching point i want to make is that in a previous thread someone tried to spin UKIP adbusting as the work of 'Marxist activists' wanting to 'thwart' UKIP's right to speak. As this article clearly shows, this is a falsehood. This individual is not politicised, he's not a communist. He is just an ordinary member of the silent working class who does not like the changes to the political lexicon that UKIP want to make happen.

Please spare me your sanctimony. No power in the world is guilty or innocent of moral absolutes. My main concern however, is the interests of the many which the United Kingdom has in its Dickensian tradition treated with callous disdain and neglect throughout its imperial thrusts. It matters very little to me that it has spawned the sort of intellectuals who you hold dear because the reins of power in this country have conventionally been held ransom by an elite club of oligarchs, sychophants and monarchs who mask their own contempt for ordinary people under a false pretence of free speech and liberal values.
If you want to create strawmen here is my return service. Even on a visceral level the British ruling class is completely dislikeable. Compare the elitist, hedge fenced, ignorant, red faced, delusional, big bellied brandy supping toffs of the Sandhurst military bourgeoisie and of Eton high society versus the fatigue wearing Fidel Castros of the world who are not above stepping into public and mingling with their own people.

Gadaffis Libya, the USSR and similar was not innocent of wrongdoing. What I do know is that its citizens were as a rule of thumb, not in a state of precarious material need. Everyone had access to utilities, education, medicine and shelter. Things that nobody living in the UK and more so the USA can take for granted. That is the point.
When looking at British history, I find myself lucky that i live in a age where the power of people you admire, is rescinding.

The same Fidel Castro who banned Cuban citizens from leaving the country, thus effectively enslaving his entire population?
How quaint that you create a thread criticizing a political party in the UK that wants to limit immigration and then endorse a dictator who outlawed emigration and had people killed when they didn't comply (like in the 13 de Marzo Incident).
Ah, so the Holodomor never took place. I suppose "material need" does not cover the concept of starvation in your definition.
As for living standards in Libya (how many times do I have to mention this?): Oil, oil, oil and oil. Not socialism or communism.

Oh, and for Venezuela (which is basically keeping the Cuban economy afloat, btw), if you had any plans of bringing that country up:

I'm sorry... are we discussing the same *planet?* Because - last time I checked - all of your favourite political systems have either collapsed, are collapsing or are fake oil states.
It's fine and dandy when the favoured regimes of the leftists do disgusting things yet rightly despicable when once-favoured regimes of some people on the right do disgusting things (like Apartheid).*
*Difference is you'll find no-one serious defending that system apart from those on the far-right.
Says who? Loads and loads and loads and loads of people are (to varying degrees of strength and interest) against such 'leftist favoured' regimes. Way into the majority, surely, including many who consider themselves on the political left.

You'll find no-one serious defending Castro and Chavez except the likes of Galloway and other far-leftists.
