Foley's Murder
^^^ In almost every war militaries have executed POWs out of convenience (not being able to properly detain and guard them, and not willing to disarm them and set them free). But that is very different from executing POWs and civvies being an official policy. Regular militaries try to hide their misdeeds when they occur, the ISIS people brag about them and show them to the whole world.
I wonder if he put up a fight or did something to wreck their video...
At first that didn't seem likely because the haji was well along the way to slicing into Foley's neck when they cut to the next scene, but he didn't have a very good lock on Foley's head, and the last shot (post-beheading) shows his shoes lying on the ground pointing the other way from his body (which would fit with a struggle).
So maybe they planned to show a wretched beheading video all along, but ran up against an uncooperative actor who didn't just sit there and wail pitiably like the other guys.

Every other person who was imprisoned with him seems to think he was an amazing brave man, a leader for the other prisoners. Also, they had all gone through mock executions and people are guessing that he said that stuff because he's been through it so many times before and he thought he would survive again if he said it again.
I really don't understand the nature of evil. I'm not religious, it's not about GOd., it's just what do you get from a life like that? That killer probably went out and had a beer or something after.
Nope, Muslims - especially extremists - don't drink alcohol. If they did drink, maybe they'd chill out a little more.

Wonder if they have any secret drinkers.
Now that you said that, I also wonder if their beliefs keep them from raping women (since that is one very common way of torture in war). Even amongst the atrocities they are committing, the women would probably feel at least some sense of relief if that was true.

From what I understand, the alcoholism rate among Muslims, Mormons, and those fundamentalist Christian groups such as Pentecostals and Baptists - all of which forbid consumption of alcoholic beverages - skyrockets.
