Was going to happen anyway. You can't stop what's coming......
I wonder if you'd be as concerned if it were republican voters being "disenfranchised". I'm guessing not since they don't know what's good for them and vote against their own best interests, according to you.
I'm starting to think it's more about fighting against the conservatives than it is fighting for the underdog.......
Yeah, right; had it not been for progressives slavery would still exist in 2014.
Why would you want to give the power of the vote to people who, according to you, are ignorant, fearful, and insane?
It comes down to defining who's the underdog and what defines hurt by 21st century standards.
In that thread about the governor of S. Carolina, the liberals seemed to put more credence behind manufactured offense over the Confederate flag than bringing jobs to the state.

Who knows hos long slavery would have lasted. But the fact remains, it was progressives who had fought against it as the abolitionists, and the radical Republicans, while it was the forces of conservative reaction who fought for it's survival.
I didn't say all conservatives are fearful and ignorant, but it's the crowd who are who seem to be guiding the conservative movement right now. And as a matter of fact, liberals need conservatives to balance the system, as much as conservatives need liberals, thus I want conservatives to continue to have a voice as much as I disagree with them.
As for underdogs - as South Carolina is dominated by the right wing of the Republican party, I think they hardly constitute the underdog. And yes, liberals there want jobs to come to their state, but they want everyone to share in the prosperity. As Nicki Haley has made it clear she wants to keep unions out of her state demonstrates she isn't interested in working people getting ahead, and apparently revels in keeping them from it.And just because she says CEO's aren't ever offended by that traitorous rag doesn't mean that's a fact. And what about those citizens of her state who aren't enamored by the celebration of treason for the sake of white supremacy?

Your jabbering about civil rights would be a lot more respectable if you weren't so pick and choose about them.
And the liberals have no influence from by peaceniks, tree huggers, and socialists?
Unions
The situation: Companies do not want to be unionised and to hedge that they pay a "living wage" and offer a suitable to generous benefits package. This seems to be the situation more often than not.
Result: People are working and earning a living wage with a benefits package.
The situation: Unions force their way in just because they can and the companies pack up and leave the state taking the jobs with them.
Result: People are no longer working but hey, at least they showed those scab companies who's boss!

I would not say wallyworld pays a living wage. not when they need public assistance. and I'd pick hanging around with "tree huggers, peaceniks and socialists" over fascists every day of the week. you mention those underdogs as though they were an evil or something. it seems to me that the right wing supports only overdogs. and the whole point of the thread was that gov. nikki thinks that CEOs are the ONLY ones that matter, otherwise she would not have said that execrable thing she did. there is no common ground here.
Wallyworld is everywhere and If I had to guess I'd say that they are not the ones that Nikki Haley is targeting to come to or stay in the state.
The only thing that's going to break Wallyworld's back is for people to stop shopping there and that aint gonna happen.
They don't believe in work and money, only trees and peace.
I did?
How?

1. I'm not an "overdog" I work for a living.
2. Like it or not, it is the "overdog" that decides what part of their corporations go where and who gets those jobs. So yeah, if it seems we coddle the "overdog" it's for everyone's good. And if you ever get your wish granted to move to Canada it'll be the same there.

What auntblabby said.
I would add, fast food hardly comes close to paying a living wage or providing important benefits.
And remember when the United States had the highest standard of living in the world, where even blue collar workers could own their own home? Well, that was back when organized labor was king. That was only lost when companies decided that greed was in their best interest, and so started luring blue collar people away from the Democrats with divisive wedge issues to distract said workers while their and their children's future's were being wiped away. And as a matter of fact, I know this is absolutely true, because my dad had been a union grievance man (shop steward), and saw this happening first hand during the Ronny Raygun years.
And in closing, the only use I have for the stars and bars - and the book of Revelations - is when I want to conserve toilet paper.

It don't bring home the bacon, that's what.
They only provide us with oxygen to live, and keep us from dying violently. I'll stick with tree huggers and peaceniks.

Send your aunt out to fight for you, eh?
What about fast food? As I said in this thread or another one today if you raise the wages for fast food workers to where you think they should be it inevitably drives up the prices of the product and drives customers away. When that happens fast food joints close their doors, especially in the low income areas. Fast food is a stepping stone for most, not a career.
We'd have to agree on what constitutes "blue collar" and that could never happen.
That aside, we sure have a lot of people immigrating into the country, wage-slave s**thole that it is according to your kind.
What your kind continues to fail to realise (intentionally, it seems) is that business is in business to MAKE MONEY in a highly competitive market for the goods or services they provide. If you all organised and grievanced you way out of your jobs then you only have yourselves to blame.
So what? I'm not so enamored with Dixie as you'd like to think. If I had any family in this country then they would have fought on the Union side.
I could fight on either side since I see the merit in both causes. Like most people, which side I took would depend on where I lived.

I would say it's only because you're on the dole, but since I have no hard evidence of that it might come off as uncivil so I won't.

As the right likes to equate themselves with Christianity, that's something they ought to consider.
And the left likes to equate themselves to heathens.
What's your point?
