Much of the ludditism around today seems to stem from Baby Boomer New Age crap hijacking portions of the enviromentalist movement and turned things like reducing enviromental destruction and reducing carbon dioxide emissions from scientific and economic issues into moralistic rantings that do nothing but piss people off and make them open to be fooled by global warming denialists and similar lying malcontents.

I'm a leftist and i don't think that technology is bad. I don't fear the matrix, or super-animate AI. I can't wait for technology to become more organic really. That's when man will definately benefit from it's advances.

I agree with Ray Kurzweil that we will eventually merge with our technology by becoming cyborgs, over the decades we will become less and less biological as we gradually replace our biological organs with artificial structures, finally replacing our biological brain cells with artificial ones neuron by neuron (and since the brain will be made artificial very slowly the continuity of the self will be maintained). We won't be taken over by some Terminator-style rise of the machines, we will become the machines.

I thunk us left-wingers should embrace techno-progressivism and transhumanism, it's the best way to reverse the destruction of the enviroment and stort society on the path towards the mostly post-scarcity society dreamed of by futirists in the 60s.

It's not the technology that's a problem, it's the lack of progress in human social development that permits the increasing power of technology to be used by primitive social systems to create devastating catastrophes. Responsibility must accompany technological power and that does not seem to be happening.

I hope I don't one day concede to being a cyborg. That would definately blow... Just think, what if one day we have to plug ourselves in, or get an oil change. Man, I can't get relief from anything. Not anymore routines, please.
