Though the dogma and doctrine of various judaic religions try to curtain us off for control (I'm Catholic)
As a Christian, I cannot know the unknowable. To rise in Grace means that I shall be uplifted and be part of choirs singing praises for all eternity (which on the surface sounds kinda boring ^_^ but we are supposed to like it as much as dead heads in the parking lot)
But Christ said that all but one sin was forgivable under him and that was rejection of the Holy Spirit.
But in appreciation of sacrifice we are always strive to be better, because the sins are still sins, just no longer carry a "death penalty". We are to follow the Sabbath and Commandments.
I would like to believe the comfortable myth that I shall see all my loved ones, even 'fluffy' and 'Mr. Bubbles', but that is not guaranteed anywhere in scripture. That is children's Sunday school that somehow got retained into adulthood.
I have been considered dead before. It was the most peace and beauty I ever knew in my entire life and like a siren call in hard times. Every last second was vivid after the panic of drowning passed. ( one of my nightmare even because the allure of siren call to return. It was why I was willing to attempt suicide a year later).
I was missing under the cold pacific in the Abalone beds in the Ft. Ross region for 15 minutes. Sheer chance... like some kind of crazy movie, retrieved me. I had a wooden blessed cross, simple and kind of ugly, on my dog tags that brought the chain floating from my suit and a person fishing by sheer chance hooked the chain an brought me up. By chance there was a motivated soldier from an Alaska unit that gave me mouth to mouth for 2 hours until paramedics came and jumps started me. And when my X tried to intervene to "let me go" witnesses said he had his companion reveal his CC and made him get back. He was not going to lose a fellow soldier. His efforts bought me ,so far, an extra 26 years, 3 children a lot of painful days and a lot of wonderful ones. Paramedic said I was defined dead, but Tomas effort kept brain damage and opened the ability for full revival.
If that was the front porch of heaven, and we each go together yet separate? I will be happy to be there and satisfied knowing that others I care for can be in same beauty
I do not blame God for bad things on earth. It is our own fault. We are given free choice that doesn't pay out til the end. Like a Savings Bond. But every sin great or small gives that much more jurisdiction over us by those forces (fallen angels, Satan, evil spirits, call as you like) that want us to fail and want dominion over us.
