I'm getting one of the inexpensive tests for my birthday this summer, something I've always wanted to do.I'm interested in finding out if there is any Native American,don't want to be tribe Wannabe.
I lucked out in genealogical research,traced one line back further than I would have thought.Also that I have ancestors in places I never dreamed of.

my genes seem to have come from the holy land, circa 3200 BC at the latest.

I did Genographic project 1.0 but have never done 2.0. It was from there I went on to do Family tree dna, and from there test with other companies.
These ethnicity tests are fun to do but should be taken with a large dose of salt. At a continent level they work well ie distinguishing European ancestry from Asian for example. They are more problematic at a sub continental level ,ie with distinguishing French from German for example.
If you really want to get an idea of your ancestry look at your cousin matches. Mine are predominantly British isles and Irish with a lesser amount of German and Scandinavian at FTDNA.
