Family Research Council is where Josh Duggar worked when he and Anna were living in Maryland and this group advocates for the traditional family, one man one woman, no divorces, no infidelities, and they are against pornography. They also oppose stem cell research and abortion. Apparently, Josh cannot live up to this marriage model, and he is far from alone. He is one of the multitudes that struggle with it yet real problems are pushed under the rug in favor of this idealized life which seldom exists. It might for the rare couple but for the majority, it does not. So why should Josh and all those others be made to feel defective. Maybe marriage is defective and these people are healthy enough to recognize they can't live in a defective construct.

Their reach is far beyond LGBT.

A most astute observation, sir!

I wonder how many of his on-line contacts were with men pretending to be women?

Give it time, sir ... give it time ...

Thank you for your kind words. 8)
Well, kind to me, not Duggar.

I'm sure he's not the only hypocrite in that rat hole otherwise known as the Family Research Council.

Blau, Matthew 6:1-7 is probably my favorite part of the Gospels. In one fell swoop Jesus wipes out basically the whole underpinnings of American Christianity, which is based on praying in the streets and other public places (such as TV shows). Stick a fish sticker on your car alongside the "not of this world" decal, and you're Christian! Well, no. Jesus says it right there, plain as day. People claim to read the Bible daily, but they must skip Matt 6 and other inconvenient parts. If you really want to trip out, pick up the Gospel of Thomas.

Josh is the product of an extremely sexually-repressed adolescence. No dating or flirting allowed throughout his teen years, homeschooled so he couldn't even form friendships with girls, saving his first kiss for his wedding day! None of that is developmentally healthy. The horrible things he did to his sisters should have been a wake-up call to his parents that the way they're raising their children is unnatural. In my opinion, Jim Bob is nothing but a pervert with a pregnancy fetish who hides behind a Christian mask.

All I can say is I wish people were more real. There are a lot of people out there who think it is moral and just to keep secrets, to tell lies, to cover things up for the "greater good." I'm not saying there aren't good reason in some cases or there aren't conflicts. Silence can be a deadly weapon though.

When i look at the Duggar family what I see is secrecy, repression, denial, and guilt This same theme is actually very common in dysfunctional families.

If everything on the surface is exactly the way it is I have to say the Duggars aren't all that bad in comparison to everyone else. I just get this icky feeling that there is more beneath the surface.

I'm an atheist, but that jesus of nazareth guy was on to something.

Sometimes I wonder how much it would cost to have a bunch of really nice framed prints of the sermon on the mount handy to mail out to folks who are shamelessly practicing priestcraft.

As for the hypocrites, why do they see the mote in their brother's eye but fail to see the beam in their own?

You have a a good point. As a single young man I used to go to church in terror of being found out. Then I found out that many of the men were the same as me, some of them married. I used to smoke and that really was a major sin. They didn't believe it was possible for Chrisitans to smoke. Anyway I did pay for my smoking with serious illness and surgery. These days I don't do these wrong things and frankly I don't do much at all.

It may be the things we don't do are worse than the things taken so seriously. So, Josh Duggar, join the human race.

It's because they believe it's their duty to rebuke thee even if they are sinning and when they are found, they will be rebuked and told to repent as well. This is the cornerstone of the Christian faith, rebuking, by way of telling sinners they are not living a Godly life, and then expect the same when their own sins are found out, and then told to change what they do, getting right with God.

Now rebuking is fine and dandy and they can rebuke all they want. I have a problem when they try to control through the government. That oversteps rebuking imo.

There has to be an arrest, an arraignment, then a pre-trial hearing, then a trial, then a conviction, then a sentencing.

Then an appeal, then another appeal, then another appeal ...

But Jesus rebuked the super religious pharasees who were hyopcrytes. This may have been rooted in the belief that the God who created and sustains the Universe was the God of just two numerically insignificant tribes. But let us be careful in our own judging lest we be judged also.

I'm shocked at how lenient the law has been with him. Child molesters are usually locked away pretty quickly.

I was in the process of typing what Fnord pointed out in his post. Evidence must convict Josh first and if that can't happen, for whatever reason, and blame the Duggar clan if you like, then he cannot be prosecuted.

While that cannot occur at the moment, we can still think about this Duggar situation and what Josh says about the married state through his actions, which I think the two are related. This is someone who has been denied his own identity his entire life and this is how he handles the denial. It is difficult for most people to fathom how much repressing occurs in families like the Duggars. They are never allowed to be selfish. They are rebuked for that. Everyone has some selfish component to them. The oldest sibling in such a family would be pressured non stop. It would be worse than the younger ones because they would have to set the example, and always give up their own wants and needs on behalf of the larger picture, in this case, the younger siblings. They are the ones who are likely to receive the least amount of nurturing and are often required to become nurturers themselves from an early age without ever experiencing much of it themselves. All of it is out of their control as well. They do not have a voice about whether it's a good idea for mom to have another baby. That is top priority, not the needs of the ones who are already here. So, if Josh is feeling burdened and neglected he cannot dare say one word of dissent without dire retribution from everyone else. Viola, you see these subconscious mechanisms appear and he still has them. He is a very unhappy individual. I have read what has been posted about him on Duggars Without Pity. Many people sense this energy from him and get creepy vibes. So much negativity about him way before any of these scandals surfaced. So foreboding! I remember reading such posts thinking it's so weird, so many people cannot stand Josh. I didn't have much of an opinion about him back then. I thought he was meh, and was lukewarm toward him but Anna did seem like a very happy, sunny, enthusiastic person to me. The intense negativity and cynicism toward Josh alone mystified me. There were numerous entities who could not stand Josh but praised Anna to the skies, while a lot of times, it's opposite. They praise the man, insult the woman. So Josh must have been emitting some powerfully negative vibes and people were picking up on them, even through their television sets. All this translated into several negative posts about Josh Duggar on any given day.

"Serve God first, others second, yourself last" is the Duggar's self proclaimed creed.

What does all this say about marriage in general? I pondered this question last night. I thought about Hillary Clinton, the cuckolded wife, and how she is still with Bill even though he, like Josh, clearly was miserable in the married state, no doubt due to intense scrutiny and pressure. "Kiss your political career goodbye if you ever get a divorce!" Their shelf life would have instantly expired under such circumstances so, also like Josh due to religion and scrutiny, divorce simply isn't an option for politicians who must seek election. Society is very intolerant and unforgiving even though there's mounds of evidence married people aren't happy and might actually enjoy life more if they were allowed to be single without being judged so harshly, even insinuations about their mental state only because they don't wish to be married. It's the greatest sin you can have, unmarried at the age of 30!
Single people are stigmatized : labeled insane, defective, dysfunctional, immature. We are simply not whole and cannot be trusted. We are only allowed half value in the eyes of society, even by people who are cheating on their spouses, are bound by a loveless marriage. These are the ones most likely to be harshest toward single people and might actually hate the living daylights out of us because, in their innermost souls, they crave being the same way but know they cannot due to the kinds of programming they fell victim to, or their careers would be put in jeopardy and it's not worth the risk to them.
Single life, far from being an indication of insanity, could actually be one of a healthier state of mind! We could be the ones who are truly sane while the unsane attempt to convince us otherwise. We are healthy enough to accept how we can not be depressed and are willing to embrace our lack of misery. Once you get a taste of your true self and the peace and happiness it brings, you will never want to go back to what made you feel hopeless and suicidal. It will open your eyes to a level of existing you always craved but were never allowed where you just feel contented and peaceful all the time. The void that must be forever filled with all kinds of destructive impulses closes.

It doesn't matter if he's a "loyal follower of God", or was "only" 15 when he molested his sisters, he is still a child molester and deserves to rot in jail. He did it, he has admitted that he did it, convict him, lock him away with all the other child molesters, done.
