Would the lyrics "virgin child" get the above banned nowadays?

That Zappa thing stands out more than the others, and stands out as outrageous by the standards of its own, and this, time.

You expect the outrageous from Zappa, but its a certain kind of outrageous (anti semitic) I am not used to hearing in his work. Dang! 8O

He was of middle eastern extraction himself. Looked kinda Jewish, and probably smelled a bit garlicly himself!

This song might be the winner in the politically incorrect contest. However, it was a sympathetic gesture to the women's movement at the time, and the use of the N-word was certainly not racist.

(From a musical perspective, it was a crappy song, though.)

Common shorthand for "Jewish American Princess" is "JAP". It did cause controversy at the time but the ironic thing it is a stereotype invented by Jews and was used by mostly Jews. As with Zappa it was also used as a topic mostly for jokes.

That is the problem with SJW's. A lot of songs they deem racist like the Sly and the Family Stone song earlier in this thread are anti bigotry songs.

Quote:
Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in the market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver knows he's doin' all right
Hear him whip the women just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should

Drums beatin' cold, English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin' when it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doin' all right
You should have heard him just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should

Brown sugar, how come you dance so good
Brown sugar, just like a black girl should

I bet your mama was a Cajun Queen
And all her boyfriends were sweet sixteen
I'm no school boy but I know what I like
You should have heard them just around midnight

Brown sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown sugar, just like a black girl should

I said, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
How come you, how come you dance so good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Just like a, just like a black girl should
Yeah, yeah, yeah, woo

Song was number 1 back in '71

Yeah. After one of the subsequent albums later in the 70's after "Sticky Fingers" (the album with Brown Sugar) came out I heard a soundbite of Jagger being interviewed on our local rock station. The reporter said "some have said that your last album is sexists, and even....racist! How do you respond?"

In a drunken slur he said "our next album will be even more sexist, and racist. It will be a whole bunch better!". :D

I don't find these lyrics offensive at all. Actually, this is one of my favourite songs.

I don't see anything wrong with any of the songs in this thread.

Actually most of them are fine even by today's touchy standards. However that "yellow Chinkees" phrase in the song in the original post is a bit..obtuse. Even if you don't consider it offensive you have to admit that its throwing the listener a curveball about whether the song is sincere, or whether its a put on. Like this:

And while we are on the subject:
