And let's say a coup did happen, then what?

Food shortages and power outages, rioting and looting, rape and murder, vigilante justice and lynchings ... just watch what is happening in Syria right now.

Besides, for all we know, 2/3s of the people who responded to the poll were ISIS members, Russian military, Chinese hackers, Ulster dissidents, or some combination thereof. There is no way for us to know if any of the poll's respondents were American.

That polling site is not fact-based at all, and seems to be more concerned with attracting attention than with telling the truth.

(Adding Jacoby to my 'Foe' list, btw ...)

what does that mean?

Where did they take this poll? You can get whatever results you want by selecting your polling population. One interesting thing that jumped out at me, the vast majority of left wingers in this poll supported overthrowing the status quo. Imagine that !

you're reading it wrong. more repubs than dems would support overthrow.

Our democracy needs fixing...

It is not a democracy. It is a Constitutional Republic with democratically elected representatives* who are bound by the Constitution. In cases where these representatives do not respect the Constitution, the Supreme Court will intervene. If the Supreme Court fails to do its job, all COs of the United States Uniformed Services have sworn to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" (the Oath of Office).

*Please contact your local congressman or senator if you think there is something wrong with the electoral process.

Just the opposite. If that were happening then martial law could be justified to establish order, arrest looters, ration food, and provide policing. What scenario could start this? How about a disease outbreak? ...Or huge natural disaster?
