Rather than looking for answers in one ancient book or another, why not convert to thinking for yourself?
He is doing so, when I was at his age when I was still Muslim (born one) and before I become agnostic, I have leaned from Islam to other religions in the process. It's not like woke up in one morning and decided "Aha! I wanna be atheist!" - it happened gradually without knowing.
How many people (not only Muslims) choose religion on their own by personal research and by self-convince? Not so many, MonsterCrack is showing a sign of free thinking instead of blindly following what he was taught as a child.
Regarding Judaism, I don't think it differs much from Islam, they are two extremely similar religions: Both are strictly monotheist, both care too much former prophets, both have similar lifestyles: the way of praying (ie. washing before praying, the "rocking" move while reading holy book...etc), the halal/kusher thing, list of edible clean/unclean animals, no pork and no alcohol, both favor men, both somehow have the concept of holy war (Holy conquest of Canaan and ethnic cleaning vs Jihad), in both the depict the image of God not encouraged or permitted, many things of the Sharia laws are similar to the old Jewish laws.
Judaism and Christianity have similarities in other ways too: The structures of Churches and Synagogues look very alike , certain rituals like marriage rituals are very similar, .....however Christianity, as initially a liberal jewish movement, knocked down the old ways and removed most of the strict ways of living.
But to each his own.
