Why the double standards?
White man says he hates blacks, everybody loses their minds.
That's not true. I've yet to witness that. Have you?
Man says he loathes women, everybody goes crazy.
Once again, not true. In both cases, when I've seen someone, both male and female, say something like that, everyone rolled their eyes and assumed they were just being bitchy. I've yet to see a woman be openly sexist against men and be well-liked.
So, just because you're black or a woman(or both) doesn't mean you're entitled to anything. Nobody is. Get over it.
I wish people would understand that everybody should be held to the same standards.
Are black people favored in job interviews? Do you know that for a fact? Do you have proof from a credible source? Who said black people and women are more entitled than you? Programs like Affirmative Action are designed to level the playing field. As a white male (I'm assuming, sorry), you do get preferential treatment, whether you like or not.
I think you need to re-read your history.
Note: That is hyperbole. But seriously... this is disappointing.
Yeah, it's a bigger problem people care to admit to, because it scares off members and creates a toxic community that leaks to other subforums. All you can really do is roll your eyes and lurk, which is what I do 95% of the time.
Scary the things people normalize.
Scary the things people normalize.
Well, it's making this particular member a lot less interested in being on this site. I haven't seen too much that's really flagrant; what's far more concerning is the fact that someone can make a post like some we're seeing here, and then have a dozen people pat them on the back for it before someone goes "hey, not cool." It's really not a good sign, and not something that inspires confidence in a site that's supposedly inclusive.
The dog whistles aren't even subtle in a lot of these.

Name examples of a woman working the same job with the he same experience same background spworking the exact same hours. I've seen bunch of stuff that disproves wage gap, because it doesn't take in account women working less hours or have less experience, or taking time off for babies. Or women who work part time and it's based of the yearly income not how much they'll paid per hour. If woman makes 70 cents a year and guy makes a $1 but guy worked 40 hours a week and the woman worked 32 hours a week. Would that be a wage gap? But if you ignore all the other details the. Say she made 70¢ and he made $1 is it a wage gap? I've never met a woman working a job who got paid less per hour unless she's not worked there as long and they have a pay increase based on how long you worked there. I've meet a bunch of women who got paid more for the same job because of that they end worked there longer.
No doubt this is the same as anti gun people citing numbers from s poll taken in the 90s as if it's still true today, also in that case the numbers were rigged and wrong.

I totally agree with posts one and two.
To the people who disagree with us, that's fine----but, that doesn't mean what we're saying is wrong, it just means, IMO, that our experiences have been different. When I lived in "White-Bread Baltimore", the chances that I would agree with those who fiercely defend black people were higher; however, since I now live in "Blackville Baltimore", I have a different opinion.
I run-into white people, all-the-time, who sympathize with black people who say things like Kanye West, when he said that President Bush didn't care about black people (Katrina), and I've seen them (white people) being a "friend" to black people, and then have seen black people laugh, and say things like "White people are so stupid" (when the white person is out of ear-shot, and they didn't realize----or, didn't CARE, most-likely----that *I* WAS in ear-shot), and I know that some black people----SOME black people----are playing white people like a fine Stradivarius, and have had more than one black person confirm that, straight-up!
I feel that with some white people----SOME white people----who sympathize with black people, that their only exposure to urban black people (suburban black people are, generally speaking, in my experience, not as hateful of white people) is what they see on TV, and they feel that black people have a RIGHT to express their anger at white people, cuz "Look what we did to THEM 150 years, ago"; and, I just don't have the vocabulary to express how UNbeLIEVably ridiculous that is, to ME!

I'm married to a black woman. I've been around black people constantly since about the age of 11. I work with mostly black people. I live in an area which is predominantly "minority" (i.e., black, Hispanic, East Indian, East Asian). I've seen black people who laugh at white people. I've seen black people at the other extreme.
They have a history of being oppressed. There is still de facto segregation in many areas. But I also believe black people should move forward, just like Jewish people have moved forward from the Holocaust.

We're talking about different "brands" of black people.....
Your wife doesn't count, because, IIRC, your wife is from Trinidad----and blacks from other countries, including "real" Africans from Africa, IME, have the same morals, values, manners, etc. as the majority of whites, in this country.
Also, the fact that you live in a "predominantly minority area" doesn't count, either, in my book, cuz even though Queens is within NYC limits, you'll never, in a million years, convince me that those blacks are comparable to the blacks in Harlem, for instance.
The black people that you refer to that laugh at whites, and the black people that you refer to, that need to move-on from "the slavery bit", are who I'm talking about. I, TOO, have experienced black people who are the extreme opposite----have had them as dear, DEAR friends----but, I'm not talking about them; I'm talking about black people who have a chip on their shoulder, and those that INSIST-on continuing to feel that the world OWES them, because "Look what your people did to MINE"!
There are white people who feel as *I* do (that we've seen the light, and that there are SOME black people who are playing white people, for anything and EVERYTHING they can continue to get out of 'em), and there are white people, who see the situation as "But..... Look what we did to their people", and "Awww, poor black people"----and never the twain shall meet (as is confirmed, IMO, by the respondents on this thread).

If somebody wants to go on a martyr trip with me (any ethnicity), I ain't friggin' signing up for it!
I've met people of all ilks who believe the world owes them a living. Once anybody gets involved in that ideology, it's over for them--unless they start hating the smell of that cave where they reside.
All in all, to be honest, I find most people to be at least okay.

GOOD!! That's very, VERY good to hear, cuz earlier posts that I've read of yours, on this topic (on this thread, and others throughout this site) haven't seemed to be saying that. Other posts you've made on this topic seemed to be saying "Awww, poor little black people"; and then when you post that your wife is black, everybody seems to give you "a pass", and I was sick of seeing it, and felt strongly compelled to challenge it.
I've met people of all ilks who believe the world owes them a living.
I have, TOO----but, the ones who keep "grounding-it-in", are the people who quite a few others, are sick-of.

EXACTLY----I agree!!
All in all, to be honest, I find most people to be at least okay.
This sentence wasn't here, when I first began to respond to this post----but, I agree with it, as well.

In the city I live in I once saw a black guy yelling racist stuff at white passer-bys, and it was mostly other black people and minority people telling him to knock it off. So based on that its not entirely true that 'no one bats an eye' when people of minorities are being racist.
As for affirmative action, all in all it just helps ethnic minorities make it 'into' college it doesn't effect how well they are going to do or guarantee any kind of success...just attempts to allow them equal opportunity to get into the college debt trap. Perhaps at first it seems there is no reason they'd have a harder time being accepted to college than a white person with the same grades...but it could be argued they still suffer from opportunities their parents didn't have or that they grew up without. I don't know I have never been a huge fan of affirmative action, but I don't get all up in arms about it either because it doesn't really put them in a better position than white people or really give them much extra benefits....it makes it easier to have their application to a college accepted, but that is about it.

Unfortunately that seems to be a problem in most autistic communities, not just Wrongplanet.
The field of psychology has a problematic history of racism and sexism. It's no secret that it's far easier for white males to get psy care than other groups. This means that white people (and especially white males) are unfairly overrepresented in the autistic community.

One can be a white male without being a bigot. In any case, if what you're saying about this behavior in other communities is true I'd be better off going it alone again.

So... they (they being, I assume, impoverished Black Americans) say racist things OUTSIDE of ear shot and not in front of the white person?
That directly contradicts what Op said. He said black people can say racist things and no one will care, but you proved him wrong. These racist black people know what they're saying is wrong and will upset someone, because they know someone will bat an eye. Black people don't get a free pass on racism.
There's context you're leaving out. How are they manipulating white people? Are they scamming them out money? Are they using their skin color to power over the white people in certain topics? Are they using programs targeted towards them? Can you explain these interactions you claim to have had?
You mean black people are different everywhere? It's almost as if you can't judge people based on their skin color, but their actions and character!
You need to go back and re-read your history too. Read about the Tulsa Race Riots, the Rosewood Massacre, and how the FBI, on the orders of President Hoover, tried to take down the Civil Rights Movement. Read about Jim Crow laws and their effects well into the 60's. Black Americans weren't just inconvenienced by them, they were targeted by a genocidal culture that regularly murdered Black Americans (including children) with no consequences. Black women had to give birth to children outside of hospitals, because they weren't allowed into the white ones and there were no black hospitals in their county. Many of them and their infants died because they weren't allowed access to healthcare. Other Black Americans had to receive healthcare from veterinarians, because once again, there were no black hospitals in their area and even then, a lot of them had to go through the back door.
Being forced to sit on the back of the bus is just the tip of the ice berg.
I highly recommend everyone look into American history of the last century. What we learned in school was downplayed and white washed.
